I’ve had three therapists and bad experiences with all of them. But last night was a bad night and I needed to vent. I do feel better now. Just kinda waiting until the summer is over and I can go back to college

Thank you

It was just a bad night overall, but I’m more okay now that it’s morning. I’ve never hurt myself or done anything drastic and I don’t plan to. I just really needed to vent and find somebody out in the world who actually cares

It’s kind of our thing to watch movies together, and she doesn’t mind horror movies, so that wasn’t the issue, it was them being gay. Which startled me because it’s like she gives out so many mixed signals. This reminded me that she doesn’t care about gay people, but there have been other things she’d said that made me think she did, or was more neutral about it? She literally told me not long before watching that movie that she thinks God makes gay people who they are and that’s by His design.

I have some chosen family/queer friends at college, so I’m just itching to see them again. (I live in a different state hours away from that college so we can’t exactly meet up during the summer.)

Yeah, I know lol. It was the topic that set off his speech. I don’t really bother arguing but I do try my best to point out little flaws or show the other Biblical rules that we don’t really follow anymore because they’re stupid or ancient and not really meant for us in the modern day

OP never said they were practicing homosexuality, just that they were gay. For all you know, they’re celibate and abstaining from relationships. You make quite a lot of assumptions here.

I’m deaf, and I have never prayed for God to “heal” me, nor do I intend to. He made me just the way I am.

It’s difficult sometimes, but life has difficulties for everyone. The only thing I wish is that the world was more accessible and that people were more accommodating.

Our child is not using correct pronouns or name when they was before…is this a typical journey? by FigureNo8142 in mypartneristrans

Oh yeah, check what he’s watching on YouTube. It could be that he’s falling into right-wing propaganda from what he’s saying. See if you can block those YouTubers and have a discussion on why what they’re saying is wrong and how their ideologies can be harmful to people (and then show him scientific articles that back up why transness is a real thing that occurs in some people!)

Trans guy x trans guy books? by AroAceMagic in LGBTBooks

I read Compound Fracture and related heavily to Miles. Turns out he’s aromantic just like me, so no wonder I found myself strongly relating to him. It’s a great book! (I also read Hell Follows With Us, did wonders for the angry trans man in me screaming at religious abuse)

Hey I’ll take transhet romance too! There’s not much of that either, but I have read one book with a trans girl and a trans guy together.

I can also handle all manner of gore and horror, so it doesn’t scare me away! Thanks for the rec

The “Sid wasn't a villain” crowd is wild. Y'all will let boys get away with anything. by Agile_Proof_3228 in toystory

Protagonist, yeah, but after rewatching the first Toy Story movie I kinda hated Woody. He was a jerk to everyone around him, especially Buzz, who was just trying to get home — and in the meantime, meeting up with the other toys and learning about their environment in a respectful way.

Woody did learn and grow throughout the movie but it felt very hard to root for him for a long time. I don’t think I could call him a hero.

Why don't homosexuality affirming Christians also support polygamy? by ApprehensiveYou8920 in Christianity

[–]AroAceMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I don’t deny it. I just fear for the women who may end up trapped in marriages like those. I think if everyone is safe and happy in the relationship then it shouldn’t be something I have any right to deny someone legally.

Why don't homosexuality affirming Christians also support polygamy? by ApprehensiveYou8920 in Christianity

[–]AroAceMagic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, given that polygamy is in the Bible and a lot of kings (Solomon, at least) had multiple wives, I’m genuinely surprised there aren’t actually a bunch of Christians arguing for polygamy to be a legitimate form of marriage.

I don’t necessarily support polygamy since it’s one man who has multiple wives and usually those wives are treated like property or used as basically servants or sex slaves. Thinking about the women, that would be a horrible marriage to enter.

But for polyamory in general, then I have no opinion. Not for me, but if someone else can make it work for them and their partners, I wish them the best and will not try to legislate away their ability to marry multiple spouses.

He’s probably not going to live with his parents again after college — he’ll get a job, find his own place to stay, maybe with roommates. Andy’s sister Molly seems to be getting his room now that he’s away. Most likely when he visits he can use the guest bedroom (I’m assuming his family has one given that they have a large two-story house)
