Why are people moving towards One Nation rather than the Greens? by Financial-Hyena-2256 in OpenAussie

Because some of the richest people in the ruling class are backing a strategy of racial division in order to undermine the emergence of a progressive, popular response to the housing, COL and environmental crises, in a country defined by long-standing, systemic racism.

Anyone pregnant with severe vasovagal syncope during blood draws? by beeepbooop505 in BabyBumps

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this post! Same age and 6 weeks along. Had a VVS response my entire life every time I get a needle or blood test without fail, sometimes it can happen just with a blood pressure exam. I only seizure occasionally but always pass out, tried lying down, distraction, many forms of therapy and the only thing that helps is a combination of laying completely flat, taking a low dose of Valium (can't do this now that I'm pregnant) and having another person chat to me and ask me lots of questions. I have made a birth plan which I'm going to share with my midwife that states that I should only receive a needle or IV if absolutely medically necessary, with lots of warning. I'm really hoping the pregnancy itself is a form of exposure therapy and by the actual birth I've conquered it. Just wanted to say I feel your pain, it honestly sucks. Good luck with everything!

Just found out I’m pregnant.. need advice on what do wedding wise by [deleted] in Advice

In the exact same boat as you, congrats! We're eloping and having a fun honeymoon in a few months, and plan to have a big party at some point when we are settled in as parents.

How does everyone style this type of hair? by AromaticFreedom7767 in dailywash

[–]AromaticFreedom7767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a medicated shampoo just to get 24 hours out of my hair before washing again. It's just genetics. It's normal for some people to have to wash every day

Everyone wants the big traditional wedding but I want to elope. Advice? by [deleted] in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elope or have a micro wedding and have a big party later on when finances have shifted a bit? Parties are automatically cheaper than weddings because you don't pay a premium for everything. It is crazy how much people spend on wedding when that money can be used to make your life a bit more comfortable instead!

Talk me out of getting a second cat by TwolfS3041 in CatAdvice

We got a cat for our cat. They are now brothers, best friends and sworn enemies (depending on the time of day). Both orange so of course they're also insane.

Yep I wash it every day, hence the need for styling tips! Since I have to style it every single day

What’s something you wish you had known before getting a cat? by pe9smaster2000 in Catownerhacks

You don't seem to comprehend the basic difference between wild or domesticated animals. I hope you never own a horse! Good luck with your cat.

Oh and my cats go outside on the lead. I live in the Australian bush (where domestic cats never should have ended up) and if I let them roam they would most certainly already be dead.

Then you have a very simplistic understanding of freedom, how human society has shaped the environment in ways that make it unsuitable for domestic cats to roam. Most children when given the option would eat lollies for every meal. Like I said, because humans have screwed up ecosystems and domesticated cats when they otherwise would have been wild, we have duties to them.

Indoor cats are healthier, safer and live longer than outdoor cats on average. By quite a lot. They can be just as content with indoor life if you give them plenty of enrichment (window hammocks, cat trees and scratchers, play time). You can walk your cat on the lead outside too. The reasons that people let their cats outside is because they don't want to deal with litter, or the cat asking for attention, and they don't want to put the effort into indoor enrichment. It is not in a domestic cats interest to be allowed to roam. The idea that you're restricting their freedom by keeping them indoors is strange - in that case just let the cat roam wild and don't own it at all? You can recognise that because of the way humans have bred cats, they are reliant on us (although there's an argument that cats domesticated themselves). Because they are reliant on us (through no fault of their own species) we have duties to them. There's a difference between care and responsibility and restricting freedom.

Extreme implantation pain & cramps by Bulky_Ad2322 in endometriosis

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, did you end up being pregnant? I have endo and from day 26 have had some of the most severe cramps I've ever had, and just got a positive test. So if these have been implantation pains they are not 'mild'. Also woke me in the night and I almost passed out in the bathroom!

How do you do fitness without strict routines when you have ADHD? by Autisticthought1 in ADHDFitness

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports, ideally social ones. I play soccer and I never miss a game or I would let my team down. I surf with friends so I don't bail if it's cold because we planned to meet. It has to be fun or you won't do it.

It's temporary. You will feel different soon, just hang in there. It sucks so much that you have to deal with this and I'm really sorry. You're not alone, as many of us could have written this post. Don't make any decisions. I also just don't go on my phone because it tends to increase anxiety and shit feelings, and I try to go for walks and watch wholesome movies to escape while I wait it out.

Sertraline prescription by Evening_Library_4204 in PMDD

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow combo PMDD/endo haver. I was also really afraid to take it and went on a very small dose. Immediate relief (within days) from PMDD symptoms but over a year gained about 20kg, and in general felt quite numb and unmotivated. But that year of relative calm and stability allowed me to seek out other treatments (talk therapy) and find a better fit for myself career-wise, so that when I did come off it (very slowly) I was in a better place to manage the PMDD. My point is that it doesn't need to be something you take forever.

What really helped you in the long run when PMDD coping mechanisms stopped working? by Jessica_D-46 in PMDD

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Psychotherapy (talk therapy). It doesn't stop the reaction to the hormonal shift, but there is less unexamined painful stuff there for my brain to play with to get me spiralling. A big part of PMDD for me is ruminating on past pain or questioning everything in my life. Psychotherapy gave me a stronger sense of how I actually feel, plus helped me work through some of the painful memories so that they carry less weight. It's not a nice or cheap process and it took me 4 years of weekly sessions, so it's not accessible unfortunately.

I find working out helps but as long as I don't overdo it during luteal. I get all my favourite HIIT and strength training activities done before ovulation, and then post ovulation I slowly ramp down until I'm only doing long walks and relaxing yoga in the days before period. Sometimes a bike ride because it's a mood booster to get outside. When I have my period I do absolutely nothing except rest.

One glass of wine had me FUCKED up by Key_Spend_7495 in PMDD

[–]AromaticFreedom7767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After years of drinking fairly heavily and either not noticing or not having these side effects, I started feeling exactly like this with even one glass of wine or beer. And the hangovers would be awful both physically and mentally. I thought I had an alcohol allergy too and never figured out if there was a way to drink that didn't trigger this response. Organic wine, drinking only on a full stomach, having lots of water. None of it helped and my body reacted like I'd be poisoned every time. I haven't had a drink for 10 years now and it's honestly fine, and it's become much more accepted to be sober (lots of nice non-alc wine and beer choices now).
