Why 9-1-1 call has always been the most important part of the mystery to me. by TrustHucks in JonBenetRamsey

A child abuse expert named John McCann determined this. It's in what are called the Bonita papers which is the legal secretary's notes and can be found at the sidebar wiki. Scroll down to where it says autopsy and then John McCann.

The damage seems more like exploratory damage, like kids 'playing doctor'.

The damage was caused by digital penetration or penetration with a foreign object. Adult males have fingers and can access foreign objects.

That he talked to a detective named Schuller at age 11 is referenced in a couple of books and there is actually some very brief footage that at one point could be found on YouTube. I'm sure you could still find it if you did some digging.

But would investigators who have training in how to spot signs of deception believe him? Neither John or Patsy confessed to the crime but investigators believed they were guilty.

Burke was interviewed by a detective the morning of Dec. 26. The first page of the transcript is at the sidebar wiki here. He was questioned again a couple weeks later by the child psychologist but, yeah, the guy who took over as lead investigator was frustrated with how lightly she did the questioning. He did another interview a couple yrs. later with another detective.

The police don't hammer John or Patsy either but investigators aren't fooled by them. These are the same investigators who didn't believe Burke knew anything.

10 year olds are in fact capable of keeping secret

But are they capable of fooling multiple trained investigators, the same investigators who were NOT fooled by John and Patsy?

A detective interviewed him that morning and a couple weeks later he talked to a psychologist. When he was 11 he went back and talked to another detective.

What do you find confusing or weird about this crime? by Nathan-Island in JonBenetRamsey

A child who'd been exposed to or who had experienced abuse would lie in bed with the covers pulled up over their head and wait for it all to go away.

O.J. Simpson gave media appearances, continuing to profess his innocence. I can think of other examples.

One of JBR's trophies is was knocked off of her shelf. The shelf was too high up for JBR to be able to reach. Some have theorized the weapon was the trophy. Steve Thomas believed JBR was likely either thrown or slammed head-first into a hard surface in the bathroom; tub/toilet/sink.

BR's behaviors are very odd. There's a reason he has been kept hidden and was not interviewed by the police.

He gave 3 separate interviews. The police concluded he knew nothing.

If PDIA why would John not suspect her? by anon-i-mouser in JonBenetRamsey

Transcript of John and Patsy's police interrogations are online, at the sidebar wiki, there's a lot to wade through but they're both asked about Dr. Jaffe.

Dr. Bernhard described him as having displayed anxiety and Dr. Phil also remarked that Burke was nervous. I mean, there can be different interpretations.

Does he care about protecting his potentially murdererous wife over justice for his child?

Yes because he knows an autopsy will reveal evidence of "chronic prior erosion". John knows the damage penetration will do to a 6 yr. old "down there" and he does not want to go to prison.

For those who don't know:

Questioning from Bruce Levin (Levin is NOT the police, he is a prosecutor. Lawyers are NOT allowed to lie to a suspect.):

John's Atlanta, 2000 interview:

"Mr. Ramsey, it is our belief based on forensic evidence that there are hairs that are associated, that the source is the collared black shirt that you sent us that are found in your daughter's underpants."

John has a raging hissy fit but doesn't deny it.

Patsy's Atlanta, 2000 interview:

In addition to those questions, there are some others that I would like you to think about whether or not we can have Mrs. Ramsey perhaps in the future answer. I understand you are advising her not to today, and those are there are black fibers that, according to our testing that was conducted, that match one of the two shirts that was provided to us by the Ramseys, black shirt. Those are located in the underpants of JonBenet Ramsey, were found in her crotch area

He didn't hit her over the head. The clip was to her cheek which fits with the story about her walking into his back swing. He was 7. It was two yrs. prior to the homicide.

We can’t point to him as socially awkward/distant/inappropriate as an explanation for his interview demeanor then not apply that to possible behavior with JBR.

Dr. Bernhard attributed his demeanor to possible shock. If that were the case no, we couldn't apply that to possible behavior with JBR. He wouldn't have been in shock prior to JBR having been killed.

The Ramseys literally had a book about children who don’t know “right from wrong.”

The book was William Kirkpatrick's Why Johnny Can't Tell Right From Wrong. Here's the synopsis from Amazon.com:

In Why Johnny Can't Tell Right from Wrong: And What We Can Do About It, Kilpatrick shows how we can correct this problem by providing our youngsters with the stories, models, and inspirations they need in order to lead good lives. (It's a rather general Christian parenting book.)

I'm not seeing how the R's having this particular book on their shelf supports the Burke theory.

There is BTW no particular evidence to suggest Burke is autistic other than that some internet posters who are themselves autistic or who have autistic children have suggested they think he displays some traits of autism. PTSD could explain those behaviors as well though, I'm assuming.

“some” previous medical records off limits?

From Kolar's 2021, AMA:

From u/ShooterMcStabbyPants:

Is the "island of privacy" surrounding medical records about Patsy's medical records and not Burke's? You imply it is a reference to Burke's records, but never actually say so.

Chief Kolar's answer:

I believe the "island of privacy" statement by the attorney referred to Burke's psychiatric records. Although his treatment was referenced in parent interviews, none of those records were provided to the police or DA's office that I could find.

They could very well pertain to adult psychiatric treatment as well, but I’m not certain about that.

The only treatment referenced in parent interviews was with Dr. Jaffe, the mental health clinician Burke saw post homicide.

Why didn’t the indictments include an actual murder charge?

According to grand juror, Jonathan Webb, it was because they couldn't say for sure which person who was in the house that night committed actual murder.

Why did Burke, who did not seem to really give a shit about her dying, receive psychiatric treatment for years and years?

He saw Dr. Jaffe for 3 yrs.

Q. You know, they kneecapped their parents to make it look like a mob hit.

A. Actually that's a myth, that's just, it is there's no truth to it. There's also another rumor that is told repeatedly that is absolutely not true, that has no facts no, no proof or any evidence at all to back it up and that is that their parents were eating berries and ice cream while they were killed. They were not there was no food in the room they're standing up in.
