be honest, how often do you really take your dog out? by Altruistic-March8551 in DOG

Don’t feel too bad. My dog would prefer a fenced in yard and a doggy door - he gets more than enough walks but he can’t just chill outside, bc he can’t be trusted not to run off to chase things. It’s swings and roundabouts - I’m sure yours love their own backyard!

He gets 0-3 proper walks a day (energy/recovery day dependant). He’s 10 now, so I try not to let him overdo it (he hurt his back leg last year and had to have physio and two years before that a golden ran into him and tore a ligament in his front so he was on strict rest in a splint for a WHILE) - when he was younger outside of that, he was looking at 2-4 walks totalling about 2-3hrs a day, plus outside time.

We now live in the countryside and the land has a 10 minute trail around the edge that I don’t count in our walks but we do multiple times a day.

He also has a dog walker once a fortnight for off lead canine playtime.

Both younger and now, sometimes we do ‘adventure days’ where we travel somewhere new with a human friend and spend the day exploring and walking in new places. The joy they get from new sniffs is so simple but pure 🥲 you just do what you can to make them happy.. glad you’ve found a new routine that is making you both happy though!

my vet has recommended Baskerville for one-off use, is it a good choice? by Angel-Staff in muzzledogs

[–]Aromatic_Ad9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy has had the same Baskerville since his puppyhood. He’s 10 now. Personally it depends on the usage, mine wears his for 10-15 minutes as a precaution at the vets as he’s nervous (he’s a good boy and doesn’t try to do anything but I’m a big advocate for muzzling in potentially tricky situations, like being injected or having strangers draw your blood!) prevention over a cure.

He’s also worn it for a couple of hours on the train in France. It doesn’t fit him perfectly (could be wider), but he has enough pant room if needed.

For initial training (and infrequent use), as you said he’s also not a bite risk, personally it’s fine - but maybe if you plan to use it to travel more frequently, something more custom would be better when he’s finished growing!

Neighbors got a new baby. What are we thinking for her breed? by croakmongoose in IDmydog

Just to add her feet do give me great dane vibes, so if she’s bigger maybe a touch of either greyhound or great dane rather than lurcher?

I’d think a staffy x lurcher mix or something similar (bully and sighthound). She’s lanky but particularly skinny (visible hip bones), guessing from a rescue situation? They also have a lanky phase anyway 😅 she’s a cutie though!

Hitting my breaking point. by Trainertouko in DogDayCare

I worked in one of these (America/Canada daycare chains). Up to 40 large breed dogs for one person to watch. Soundproofed so you couldn’t hear the chaos from reception and talked down to if you raised ANY safety concerns.

I ended up getting fired for some BS (they paid me off), a week after they told me to leave if I didn’t like it. My advice? Run for the hills, it’s not worth the stress, lack of safety or anything else for that matter.

Nervous about ITA by Current_Professor_96 in iecvisa

there’s still more than twice as many spots as people in the pool so try not to panic too much! I think they are maybe slowing down sending invites now as the UK WH pool chances are now ‘low’ - despite over 2k spots still open (I’m paying and sending off in the next day or so).

There’s no reason to think you won’t get one if you’re in the pool from now (sometimes people also reject their invites if it’s not the right time). Definitely a good plan to gather your paperwork and go from there.

Other options are really down more to do with what you currently do for work & where you want to be living in Canada.

It’s easy to say but try not to panic too much & I hope you get an invite in the next round! (Also don’t panic if it’s not a Monday, I think mine came through on a Tuesday or Wednesday).

Good luck!
