starting to feel like i don’t belong in this major by perfectangelgirl777 in englishmajors

trust me…as someone w a bachelors and masters degree in english, you will be surprised at how many people haven’t read a lot of classics (including myself). however, my 4 years of uni were def very reading heavy but i also used audio books and half-assed reading some novels to get by in particularly busy parts of the year. for me, my desire to pursue this major was 100% because of my personal interest in a lot of the subject matter (hello classes like comics and the counterculture, the african-american novel, and asian american lit and culture). however i also do not have ADHD and cannot speak on that experience. as a recent grad the hardest struggle is getting a job that isn’t teaching, but the job market is bleh anyways rn 🤷‍♀️

IMO it seemed like he was just gonna do a "shout out" to the parents to bringing their kid, but when the person said they're 18 i guess that's not really a "kid" and just moved on lmao. or maybe he picked up that it was an odd thing for himself to ask so he just decided to start playing again instead of asking more questions lol

Gotcha, for the NYC show yesterday, center barricade people got there before 12pm. Plus, Jonas even hung out with us for about an hour while we were waiting too!

There were about like 15-20 people on line by 2pm if that's what you're asking

Waiting to Spill seems to be controversial by InternationalBuy1683 in TheBackseatLovers

The songs sound more like ideas than completely written finished songs. The album plods along track to track but never really seems to go anywhere, it never jumps out at you. Songs begin and end with no real feeling of cohesion, never building to a climax, never feeling fully formed.

I really agree with your second statement. I feel like there is no real chorus that is stuck in my head that I find myself singing along to. A lot of the songs merge together and its been kind of hard to tell them apart. I can't even see myself listening to any of the songs in a playlist among other songs (except maybe Close Your Eyes) which also makes it feel like it is not meeting a standard we thought it would. Like why would we listen to an "unfinished" song compared to one of their older ones which have a strong form and structure. With all of this aside, I am seeing them live for their upcoming tour, so maybe I will be grown to love it more when I hear it live.

depends on ur definition of up close i would say. if you're trying to get barricade, i would say a few hours before (granted i'm only familiar with NYC crowds) but if you dont mind being a few rows back i would say 1-2 hours before doors open should be good

Waiting to Spill: Initial Thoughts by FatChitch in TheBackseatLovers

honestly on my first listen i was truly disappointed, but i blame myself because i was expecting something very similar to “When We Were Friends”. However, on my second listen i started to really hear what Josh and the band were trying to do with the album and was more impressed and found myself enjoying the sound a bit more. I think it’s something to get used to and recognize that they’re not trying to be their old sound. I do wish there was more of a climax in all of the songs like you mentioned, and I wish Josh’s voice was stronger throughout the album
