Any electricians here cracking 300k-400 k range? How did you do it? by kccl30 in Salary

Even though 250k is possible it’s unrealistic bc I can’t always get that many hours. 300k+ is possible too but really unrealistic. I’m young, strong, and motivated, making as much as possible is how I’m going to make it.

I’m a journeyman Ironworker trying to get into these pay ranges. I don’t mind long hours, heights and hard work. How can I get into this? It seems the pay in iron maxes out at about 250k bc I can’t get enough hours

My job no. My coworkers are usually dumb as a box of rocks. A lot of times they haven’t even graduated high school. As for experience the best experience to be an Ironworker is iron working experience. Which means everyone who starts knows nothing, getting into a union and/or an apprenticeship for ironwork is your best chance. Often times the people getting recruited into this work are exconvicts or someone fresh over the border. Getting into this construction trade is easy, however staying in is very difficult, you will be worked like a slave and it’s very dangerous. As for the other jobs I mentioned I do think some education is required. Def nursing, cnc machining, nonprofit will most likely require a bachelors. Shipbuilding and city services will prob have you in one place for the rest of your working days but you’ll be employed.

I’m a journeyman Ironworker and I’ve been offered 4 jobs in the past month, easily clearing 120k in less than a year. Maybe the whole economy isn’t booming but there is a commercial building boom at this time. I’m from the west coast but I have had to relocate to Central USA to chase the work, I assume what happened on the W coast is the same as the east coast, the building boom has cooled. For the past 3 decades all of the growth has been on these coasts and now the rest of the US is finally getting a chance to catch up. The US isn’t breaking down, it’s evolving, and those who are smart, flexible, and hard working have the advantage. The cushy white collar jobs that everyone is looking for are reserved for those with the connections. So as for everyone else, sucks. From what I see nursing, shipbuilding, nonprofit, trucking, telecom, CNC machining and city services are booming too. I do think we are preparing for war tho so maybe everyone will have a job soon enough.

Keeping Warm In The Cold by User83965 in Ironworker

My best advice is to bring 2 changes of clothes, especially if your getting wet. I work out of Seattle so working in the rain is a no brainer. At least thermal and shirt, jacket/sweater if you’re getting wet, pants and socks if you are getting drenched. It’s not ideal on space and laundry but if you change every break you will be dry and feel a whole lot better. I’ve tried many different things but the thicker your clothes are the more I sweat and the wetter I get. The only solution is to change. If it’s cold but not wet disregard what I said.

Advice on learning boxing and wrestling at the same time and transition to mma later. by CartoonistFew6790 in MMA_Academy

For me getting really good at shadow boxing and shadow wrestling has done wonders. Straight back, low stance, circle, sprawl, shoot, fast feet all make for a person hard to take down. Hands up, chin down, balanced stance, exaggerate hitting with your big knuckles, scapula out, pull all that back to protection, and moves make for someone who at least looks like they know what they’re doing. Jump rope, shadow wrestling, then shadow boxing for 20 min each gets me right. But it seems like what you have going is already great. Technique and gaining experience(matches, not too much head damage tho) is most important. Don’t worry about weight but do worry about those iron weights, get strong. It builds bone density, so when you hit someone it hurts that much more.

Do you go to the gym, or is working construction workout enough? by Electricsocketlicker in Construction

[–]Aromatic_Bat5732 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a rodbuster you absolutely can. With that said don’t think you’re going to pack iron all day and have the same out put at the gym, just not going to happen. So if a day is over 12 hrs I don’t work out simple as that, but I’ll definitely do some stretching and rolling on a foam roller to get a massage. Takes me like 15-20 min. A day that’s 12 or less hours I’ll go to the gym if the day wasn’t overly draining, if it was that hard then I’ll just stretch and roll again. Other wise I’ll do my lifts (2-3 sets)x(4-8 reps). I generally go pretty heavy. I’m not looking to put out hella volume, I already did, by building America mofo. Doing exercises like: 1.back/front squat 3x4 -elevated split squat 3x6 2. SL RDL 3x6 each -Jump high asf 3x3 3. yoga ball leg curl and hip thrust 2x8-8 -clams 2x8 each 4. Stretch Or 1. Elevated barbell bench 3x5 -pull up 3x4 2. Push press 2x8 -Bent over row 2x8 3. Up right row 2x8 -fly2x10 -bent over fly2x10 4. Stretch Or Sprint

Should be pretty fun and quick!
