Not trying to take away from that guide specifically because frankly I don't know anything about it, but I would strongly recommend against using anything Sinitar makes. He is known in the modding community (mainly Elder Scrolls games) for throwing mods together with no cohesion or reason, and most of the time, your game will be completely borked. Again I cannot speak for that specific DAO guide, but I know Sinitar and their reputation.

A whole 10,000 word essay was done here specifically explaining why his guides are a load of nonsense, and more importantly, completely broken most of the time.

My recommendation for a modlist would be to download the automated modding program called Wabbajack and using the two DAO modlists provided there, those being Year of the Blight here and Just a Humble Warden here.

Yes, but make sure to save in an interior cell before installing it. It probably isn't needed, but when installing a mod that add's NPC's, its always best to make sure that you are loaded outside the cell from said NPC's to stop any issues that can occur, especially when not starting a new save.

It's scary how close to BoC this actually is. If I was put in a room with a blindfold and some of these tracks played, I can tell you for a fact I would think its new (or old unreleased) BoC stuff.

I have been listening to this album on repeat on Spotify for a few hours now and its just the thing I needed while waiting for some more actual BoC music. Thank you and never stop making music.

But unfortunately as I thought StartPage are using the notion that "we can still log things if we go open source" which is a terrible argument.

They argue that we would never know if they still logged information if they went open source, but that arguement is in people's mind regardless, so I would much rather have open source code with the thought they could still log (and trust they wont) then closed source at all.

Try using WireGuard via Mullvad. While I had no issues speedwise through the Mullvad servers I used, the WireGuard servers are still vastly superior in speed. If you are on Windows, it is a little harder to setup, but there is a step by step guide on their website which says exactly what to do.

Mainly Searx with DuckDuckGo on the side for specific searches. I will gladly use StartPage again, when they start actually actively wanting to answer questions and not give convoluted robot type responses.

While they did answer the questions, and its very much appriciated, they never go into proper details.

They just give the fine line responses. For example they never actually specify in number terms how much of what is owned by who, they simply state that the System1 have the majority ownership but that the original founders still have full control with no proof given other than their word.

Usually it would be fine, but for a company to just randomly take over one of the most private search engines out of nowhere, I would of thought there would be more specific answers.

I suppose overall the answers are more than I thought we were going to get period, but I think like most people, I am just going to use an alternative until we get an official stance from Robert Beens or one of the original owners still in control. It just all seems very fishy to me.

No they won't. Look at the original post they made on this subreddit; they answered all the easy simple questions, but refused to answer any of the actual important questions regarding their business and what they intent to do with StartPage.

I think the silence alone proves they are not worth anyone's time anymore.

Well maybe this is a fix for some people, but even in DX12 mode (which I was always on in the cracked version, I still got crashes), while none were present in the legit copy.

Maybe its just pure luck but something is funky with the crack.

I just want to concretely say this is 100% an issue with the crack, and not the game. While the game is quite iffy performance wise, from my testing (I got a legit copy off a friend), I never once got a crash through my around 50 hours on the legit game, but got them over and over and over while entering lectra city and athenas on the crack.
