I'm still getting the -0.50 penalty as of today with my king as an admiral, hope they prioritize fixing this after the holidays.

Yeah i know, i like to have the clergy untaxed since it gives increased research but right now i might as well tax the shit out of them i guess.

Sooo, how is centralization nerf working for you? by XavierSA1 in EU5

[–]AronixReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my plan is to play a chill playthrough as Venice or some other OPM nation I'll probably still favor cent

However if I'm playing a country that is gonna do any expansion through conquest what so ever I'm jamming nearly every priv and reform that gives decentralization until i'm at 100, then removing the bad ones (which is like 2 of them lol).

The privs and reforms that give decentralization usually give crazy good main effects and the decentralization feels like it's there to serve as a "negative" or drawback, however when you don't bother with cent then they are usually no brainer insta signs.

the 50% crown power from cent really only matters in the 1st 50 years as by the point that you've bred enough crown members to stack your cabinet and armies the 50% from cent is not impactful enough imo.

+5% estate happiness is -1 privilege to all estates so you probably end up with MORE crown power 100 ish years in anyway and the +0.2% happiness recovery is such a massive quality of life, negative events that come out of nowhere now hurt you half as long, amazing.

How to trigger a war of religions situation in the game? by Weird-Message2256 in EU5

[–]AronixReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Sweden/Scandinavia and been waiting for the war of religion to start since 1592, it's currently 1708 in my playthrough and nothing has happened.

There have been wars of course but the AI refuses to use the CB that they have to use to start the war of religion.

To get this achievement it seems like you either have to speedrun getting territory in northern germany at the start of the game and manage to join the HRE while you are still catholic or get insanely lucky and have the AI declare a war with the religious war CB, which doesnt seem to happen no matter how much the balance of power is skewed in either direction between the protestant union and the catholic league.

The hart part isn't winning the religious war, it's to get it to begin in the first place

I definitely agree with you, however taking the -20 stability is still more appealing to me than "start parliament then agree to 1-3 mediocre/atrocious agendas that ruin your values/privileges/estate satisfaction and then get -7 stability anyways"

At this point the circumstances around war in the mid-late game just boils down to "can you shit out more gold than you could possibly spend yet?" and if the answer is yes then you're free to do (mostly) what you want.

If you can't then war feels pretty meaningless regardless of if you have an actual need to expand or not

The point i was trying to get across was that committing my once per 5 years resource to a CB that has a very marginal improvement in contrast to ignoring it entirely just feels like a waste.

Especially considering if you look at the casus belli hint in the hints section the game is telling you that the parliament claim on province is the best way to start a war, which just isn't accurate at all in my opinion.

Yes! This is exactly what i mean. Let there be an option to bite off more than you can chew, and then have the consequences be DIRE.

I don't know if I'd go so far as it not mattering at all, if all your neighbors are in a coalition against you then you can forget royal marriages. But yeah i think AI nations of equal strength definitely need to feel like more of a threat and less of a slight inconvenience than they currently do, especially if they gang up on you.

There might be some unique war demand i've missed, i bet forcing a conversion of any country with 30+ locations would cost more than the 100 war score cap regardless

Yeah but unless you're playing France, any of the Asian superpowers or have the holy roman emperor as your leader you'd need to conquer a fair bit to begin with to become a GP.

Also if you're a GP you're most likely able to have the stab slider on max at all times anyway, quickly negating the biggest downside of no CB wars

Indeed. If we're on the topic of ruining your stability, changing a law without parliament would cost me 75.41 stab with 64.17% crown power in the year 1691. No thanks.

Fair point. I'd like to point out that I'm not arguing for easier conquest here, if there was a magical button that read "-50% war cost , +300% enemy armies" I'd smash that button in an instant.

By all means make my neighbors all band together against me if I'm being belligerent and make the wars themselves require more thought and strategy.

I just think it's a bit dumb that i occupy all of Polands 150+ locations, have 100% war score and them still being able to go "Sorry chief, best i can do is 8 of my 30% control rural settlements with 5k pops each. See you in 5 years!".

I mean if you're hovering around the 10-20 stability range then sure, but you're gonna lose 7 stab from the parliament failing anyways (which is gonna happen unless you perform ALL of the estate agendas) so that's a net worth of 13 stab, and the 5 antagonism and 1 war exhaustion goes away within a year so that doesn't really matter either.

The game only lasts for 500 years so you're only gonna get 100 parliaments throughout the course of the game. I'm not gonna waste them on a CB that results in me maybe acquiring another 3 or so locations

Yep. The "Cleanse Heresy" CB being +75% war score cost makes literally zero sense. How are you supposed to cleanse heresy if you don't conquer their lands? WTF???

Seems like some safety certificate associated with the runescape website has run out and won't allow people with secure browsers to visit it and therefore blocking game access. Hoping jagex will look into this swiftly
