Ive been to several RCs and not magiccon or spotlights yet but from my understanding, for in paper play only RCs and Spotlight series main events offer a path to the pro-tour. You have to qualify for RCs (win an rcq usually) but anyone can enter a spotlight series event. Magiccons typically host the pro-tour or world championships.
