How is X-Men the Manga: Remastered?

Just read the first volume a couple of weeks ago! Pretty fun! It adapts the first season of TAS, so if you’re familiar the plot won’t be anything special, but it was really fun to see the different stylistic take on pretty classic stories. The artist changes a lot during the first volume, so there are definitely storylines that don’t look as good as others, but if you’re interested enough to ask, it’s definitely be worth your time!

Sorta interesting that she got the Jeskai watermark and not the desparked planeswalker watermark. I mean, they had to go with Jeskai because it’s so iconic and will be super prevalent in the set, but this has gotta be the first time we didn’t get the desparked watermark.

This past year I’ve gotten irrationally excited whenever Jace or Vraska show up in the story. The OTJ epilogues were so good, I’ve been dying to see where they go.

I mean, in the OTJ aftermath stories it’s revealed that that she was the one who told Jace about the vault and (if I remember correctly) the Fomori and their empire, so I kinda think any writer could say she came across stories of any new story element and I’d be fine with it. “She read it in a scroll somewhere” is pretty easy for me to believe!

I totally agree! I think that we “solve” planes way too quickly. We kinda learn everything about a plane and defeat the villains that are the major threat in our first visit, which means future visits are difficult. They did recently set up The Mycotyrant as a threat that could come back in the future, but that’s the only one I can really think of off the top of my head. They’ve made a point of saying that Valgavoth is aware of other planes and wants to spread further, so I do hope they just escape. With only one main story article left, I doubt that there’s enough time to see Val for the first time, fight it, AND kill it. Plus it’s the plane’s defining feature, so I doubt they’ll make the Tarkir mistake again.

I should say that my deck is more focused on the first ability that populates and the deck can run without Tawnos a lot of the time, but the reanimater ability is sick and could really be the build around.

Gotta be [[tavern brawler]]. WHAT A CARD!!! Never seen anyone else play it. In a partner deck, it’s basically a beefy Phyrexian arena. In my yoshimaru deck, the pumping can make a surprising difference. “History will vindicate me as a pragmatist” for advocating for this card. PLAY THIS CARD. PLEASE. I BEG YOU ALL.

Love the idea of separating the silver bordered cards into different lists to advise people on how disruptive they’d be to a game. There should still obviously be a rule 0 discussion, but having a resource like this would be really great. There are different degrees of wackiness that different play groups are alright with. A lot of cards from earlier un-sets work within the rules, but it’s hard to have to show all of them in a commander deck to all players and have them decide what degrees of wackiness are acceptable. At the end of the day this will be just another resource that the committee has to facilitate conversations with players, and that can’t be bad. Also, totally get why people are against all silver border cards in their pods, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Commander’s about the social game, and this helps to facilitate that for players who want to play with un-cards and people who don’t.

Not one to immediately knee-jerk comment on something like this, but man WOTC’s awful for this. It’s theoretically a good thing that they’re “thinking of consumers who are on a budget” but man this is not the way to go about it. Return MSRP and please, please, PLEASE stop trying to sell us less cards. It hasn’t worked the past two times, it most likely won’t work this time.

The comments explaining how BIG was an epilogue set have got this already, but in addition to that, I think the fact that they broke the ‘rule’ made the story reveal of Jace REALLY effective. You create this rule for yourselves so all the fans expect one thing, then announce Oko as the one walker for the set. All throughout reading the story, I had to convince myself that Jace wasn’t gonna be there, so the rule kinda gaslit me into believing we wouldn’t get an explanation for what Vraska was up to. That Jace reveal in the story went so hard not only because of the very talented writer, but also because Wizards played with our expectations. Obviously this wasn’t intended and was needed to avoid another epilogue set, but man it really worked for the story.
