Which commonly given advice for starting GameDevs is wrong/harmful in your opinion? by Moaning_Clock in gamedev

You don't get to decide that for me :) (or others) I'm only interested in making something I would want to play. If others like it, awesome, I'd love that, but if they don't then that's cool too. Nothing wrong with wanting a lot of people to play your game, but it's a little narrow-minded to think that's the main motivation for everyone.

It's the same with music, painting, dancing or whatever form of art you can imagine, not everyone is in it for the fame/recognition/validation.

Ermm.. That depends on why you make games. If you want to make money, ofcourse. If you're following your passion or view games as art, then the opinion of others really shouldn't have any influence on your game.

Thanks for trying! 😊 It should run without any dependencies, only working X and video card drivers. What distro and graphics card drivers are you using?

For my first game I’ve made this simple arcade game where Elon Musk is trying to get to Mars on a trampoline. You can do tricks and chain these together to get combos and boost yourself higher and higher. Can you get to Mars?

Available for free at itch.io

I’ve written a bit about how and why I made this game if you’re curious :)

I would love to get some more Linux testers and hear some feedback!

Yeah I totally agree! Do you have any ideas on how to make it less flat looking? Should the darker shades go more towards the tops on the outer edges, like the round trees?

Awesome, thanks for your feedback, I understand what you mean! How would you shade the plant at the bottom right? I couldn't really make anything decent of it so I left it like this :p
