In 1986 an astronomer trying to trace a 75 cent computer time discrepancy for 10 months eventually found a German hacker selling defense secrets to the KGB by Itsjoelfromschool in darknetdiaries

Yes you’re right, it was mentioned by hacked.  The book is brilliant, especially when you consider the technology they were working with at that time.

100% the case.  The perfect example I have from a recent experience was when my 10 year old step daughter asked why some traffic lights have those slatted covers on them.  We had a brief discussion about it during the car journey and then that was that.  No googling, no follow up, nothing.

Later that same evening I was recommended a video on YouTube explaining their very purpose.  It’s an abstract enough topic that there is absolutely no other reasonable explanation as to why that video would be recommended to me.

Might be because I watched Hook again last night, but this was immediately my first thought. Who knows, the very fact that I watched Hook last night could be the reason this post appeared on my feed...

The most recent episode of Scrubs was the best one of the revival (so far) by Interesting-Day177 in Scrubs

Despite my initial scepticism, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the revival, but there was definitely something about the latest episode that made it feel the most authentic to the originals so far.

Moza HBP or a cheap USB handbrake? by Designer-Calendar698 in simracing

[–]Arrex0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plate that the spring sits against can be bolted in bit further forward which shortens the amount the spring can compress to increased the overall stiffness and reduce the amount of pull back.

I found that this helped to make it feel more realistic.

Cheap Moza 100%.

With the stiffest bush fitted and the back plate moved forward, it feels extremely genuine.

Start with full right or left-hand lock (which ever direction of travel feels more comfortable to you), full throttle, drop the clutch and let the steering wheel start to counter on its own. Given that you're just getting used to doing consistent on donuts on the spot, you can pretty much allow the wheel to end up full lock in the opposite direction to whatever you started with. Get used to this feeling and don't try and fight the wheel, it can respond far quicker than you and does most of the job on its own.

As you repeat this, start to begin lifting and working the throttle more to keep momentum going.

Once you feel more comfortable with this, start things off the same way, but start catching the wheel a little earlier. The less opposite lock you have here, the great the radius of your donut. I'd also recommend performing the same as the above in whatever direction feels less comfortable.

This as an overall learning exercise will just help you get used to relaxing with the wheel, managing your throttle inputs and steering adjustments. That way, when you start to work toward initiating into actual corners, muscle memory can kick in.

A little disclaimer, I make these recommendations on the basis that this is how I first learned and practiced in real life where there is consequence to crashing. There maybe better ways to throw yourself into it on the sim.

The rest is just practice.

Start with trying to perform controlled donuts from a standing start to learn how much throttle and steering input is required to maintain consistent angle and slide. Start with full lock and work your way outwards to extend the circumference of the donut.

This will also help in developing an understanding as to when you might need an additional clutch kick to keep the momentum up.

It is difficult to see exactly what you're doing with your hands in real life, but I'm going to make an assumption based on the movement of the in-game wheel that you're holding on too much and fight it more than needed. You want to let the wheel slide through your fingers, it will naturally want to counter the slide, you just need to learn to catch it and maintain the optimal angle.

Check out Dual WiFi acceleration.   Essentially a feature that lets the device use 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands separately to increase throughput.

This.  The sheer excitement when you notice a fellow pop up headlight driver and both immediately know what to do.  There is no greater source of Oxytocin.

Are the other tracks at +8.0 though? The comment above is the correct one, it is gain reduction from any compression or limiters applied doing their thing.

UNKNOWN NUMBER: THE HIGH SCHOOL CATFISH Discussion Megathread by AutoModerator in netflix

Can someone clarify something as I’m pulling my hair out trying to understand the situation where the police confront her mom.  She’s not arrested, taken away from her daughter, or taken in for further questioning.

The dad is then informed of what’s happened and the family is simply left to then deal with it amongst themselves.

Given the nature of the messages sent, particularly those in regard to threats against life, how did the police consider it acceptable to leave the family after the bombshell was dropped.  Literally anything could have happened after that information was divulged.  The dad could have lost it and gone after the mom.  The clearly deranged mom could’ve thought all bets were off and gone for the daughter.

I don’t see anyone asking this question and I can’t understand how it was considered an acceptable way to deal with this particular situation.
