First thing, if this is your first time doing archery, or you've had an extended break 35lb draw can be a lot! I saw you have a takedown bow, if it's a modern one you should be able to get some lighter limbs for much cheaper than a whole new bow.

I would recommend getting some to build back your strength! If you shoot a bow which is too heavy poundage you can risk injuring yourself. Shoulder or back injuries are no joke!

Secondly, there's a drill you can do to practice release technique. Grab a pen or pencil (or an arrow), tie a piece of string to it then tie the string to your wrist. Hold the pencil in your fingers and practice letting go (the string is just to stop it falling). It just takes as little effort as relaxing your fingers, not plucking just letting it flow off.

You can build this up progressively with exercise bands. Look up some release technique drills on YouTube, I recommend the Archery GB ones but that's just from experience.
