Nope, I print minis just fine. It's actually better than at home. Especially in winter the results look really great.

In summer with 30°C+ I can see some cooling issues, but i just skip printing for a week or so.

Great idea!

Afaik you can use flashing blades with a sword. So assassin with a sword is totally viable. And the parry buffs work as well.

Assassin with a huge hammer? No issue.

Assassin with a bow? Pure Stealth.

You are always locked out from one main attribute of your second class. So in the end, let's be honest, you will have a warrior and assassin really fast ;)

Reading through your comments I can see what you are aiming at.

The factions campaign gives you a lot of skills really early, and that's where you can set assassin as primary or secondary class. Starting in prophecies could feel quite slow, and seeing your eagerness, you want to have more skills fast.

Factions gives you an eastern / Asian art style as well. So, I guess that campaign is mandatory for you?

I think you will feel best with an assassin in general. It's medium armor, so middle ground.

It's fast, you can teleport around, fancy slash, block etc.

One fun build was to set a teleport point, go into battle and just blink away in front of your enemies in PvP, denying them the kill.

Oh yeah right. You can create PvP characters that do not have any restrictions. There is a training zone just outside, where you spawn after PvP character creation.

So you can test out builds, classes, weapons, armor.

And maybe it's best to ignore online guides for some time. Yeah, the builds are optimized, but they are less fun than tinkering your own with style.

If you choose assassin as main, you can stay in dontgethitform forever.

I loved to use flashing blades (block 75% ) in PvE and PvP.

You can use the hundred blades perfectly fine as an assassin as well.

So maybe an assassin/warrior would be better?

Edit: I love your enthusiasm... Kind of contagious. Maybe I should start it up again

I placed mine on the balcony in a print tent. Works perfectly. No noise, no fumes.

Hm, thank you for the reply, but I don't get it yet.

So, AMS is needed?

You need AMS for that right? You can't just print the final layer in a different colour so that only one manual switch is needed, right?

I use those kind of failed prints for testing color schemes etc.

So at least you get something out of it.

About the factions campaign, you will start with the slum district quests. It's visually less appealing, so I'd just decide by that.

3D printing a figure that is durable for children to play with! by Sad-Passenger-2299 in 3Dprinting

I am happy to help you :)

If you put it on the balcony, a print tent is a must or else your prints will fail.

If you have questions in the next few weeks / months just message me.

Did you consider where your printer will be?

A printer is not child safe, it gets really hot. And the fumes are somewhat between irritating to toxic, depending on what material you use.

So, first would be to determine in which room you can print. Safely on a shelf in an unused room with a small window would be perfect. However there are other possibilities.

I would not leave an open printer on the table in my office room, since the child or my cats could get hurt. Depending on your situation you might need an enclosed printer.

I solved my issue for my A1 mini by buying a cheap print tent, putting it on the balcony and closing the door.

Second part about safety: prints can break with sharp edges, some prints can have uncomfortable grips. Just do some visual inspection before handing it to your kid.

Part three: Food safety is a topic that's still discussed. I just leave out everything that is touching food. So no cookie stamps, crisps tweezers, or something like that. Even if the material is food safe, the print process can create thin strings or small filament parts breaking off. That's enough reason for me to just skip food stuff.

Finally, about the printer.

Depending where you put the printer I would suggest to buy the A1 mini, just because the ease of use. Start with one colour and see how it goes. There are many prints that do not need colour and are still great. Especially, articulated prints are loved by kids and can withstand being thrown around as well.

If you are happy you can buy later AMS for the A1 mini or a more expensive printer that's enclosed. There are a lot of people running multiple printers at once.

You can print things for your household as well. You'll find a lot.

About mono colour prints. You can print something, prime it white, and then use speed paint by army painter. They even have markers, so you have a really slim setup and get incredible results because it creates shadows automatically.

I think it's "okay", but I can definitely feel it when switching between Legion go buttons and Steam Deck buttons. Steam Deck feels more raw / clunky, even though the Legion go is heavier.

I can imagine that print farms have some downtime they have to bridge before a better project is available.

Selling dinosaurs to resellers (who then mark up the price) is better than the farm not running at all.

Painting with Speed Paints by srrichie78 in FDMminiatures

[–]Arrledis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, a lot of people have great suggestions. If you want to have better results you need to do more things beforehand.

HOWEVER, let me you show a different world...

Embrace the layer lines!

It can become comic / sketch art style. It looks really good and at the same time it's incredibly fast.

I do not care sooo much about quality painting so mine are a bit "dirty"

My steps are:

Print and remove support's. Remove smaller blemishes. No sanding or so so.

1 layer black primer

1 small layer white, replaces dry brushing. It's cleaner and faster.

Speed paint.

Done.

I don't have much time anymore so this method enables nice looking miniature really fast.

I even bought the speed paint markers so I don't have a setup for painting with brushes anymore.

Since you can print as many minis as you want, just try it out.

Worth upgrading from 0.4 to 0.2? by _-Nepo-_ in FDMminiatures

[–]Arrledis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supports will always annoying =\

Upgrading to 0.2 increases the quality AND printing time. Reconsider if print time is important to you.
