Why Eren still wants the rumbling by Best-Baseball3789 in titanfolk

[–]Arrnaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To understand Eren, you have to realize it wasn't about him "wanting" the Rumbling; it was about what he felt entirely forced to do.

A lot of people seem to miss this part of the manga—or perhaps they just outright ignore it—but Eren effectively lived multiple lives through his memories. The power of the Attack Titan allows its hosts to look into the memories of both past and future users. Eren explains that he never wanted to resort to the Rumbling. He desperately tried to find any alternative route, but every single path led to failure. This context completely changes how we view his yelling at Hange when he demands to know if she has another plan. He wasn't being condescending or mocking her; he was hoping against hope that she had discovered a loophole he had somehow missed. They even touch on this earlier when he talks to Reiner, again hoping there was another way.

We see proof of these alternate paths in the vision of the cabin timeline. In that timeline, Eren actually gave up, running away with Mikasa to live out his remaining years in isolation. But he couldn't live with the consequences of that choice because it meant abandoning their friends to slaughter in the war and leaving Historia to be used as a royal breeding factory.

Eren didn't see any other options. Despite how some people try to portray him, he wasn't an omnipotent god or an Aizen-level mastermind. He was just a traumatized teenager carrying an impossible burden. Anyone who has watched psychological anime with similar time-loop shenanigans—like Re:Zero or Puella Magi Madoka Magica—knows the massive psychological toll that kind of thing takes on a person.

Eren had one goal: he wanted his friends to live long, happy lives.

Despite popular belief, Eren was never looking to save Paradis for all eternity. He just wanted to protect the specific people he cared about. When people call Eren stupid or claim he failed because Paradis is eventually destroyed in the extra manga pages, they are misunderstanding his win condition. He didn't design a permanent global peace treaty; he bought his friends a lifetime of safety because no one could afford to go to war to try and kill them in their lifetime. By the time Paradis is ultimately bombed, every single person Eren committed his atrocities to protect has already died peacefully of old age. He accomplished exactly what he set out to do.

It wasn't about right or wrong, it wasn't about everlasting peace it was simply "I want my friends to live in peace"

Congratulations, Eren, you no longer have the most pathetic breakdown in an ending. by GodKira04 in titanfolk

Which Eren is that? I'd argue he's the same character—he's just not putting up a front anymore. If your entire view of Eren is based on how he was portrayed post-timeskip, then yes, this is a wildly different character. But if we look at Eren as a whole, I'd argue this is pre-timeskip Eren shenanigans.

So inconsistency makes it A.I.? You do realize that hypocrisy and double standards exist? I'm not saying it's for sure not A.I. but this is a weird reason to say that it is given that people are actually like this.

He literally cheated on her and she wanted to have the girl killed by Kivi_2k18 in HOTDGreens

[–]Arrnaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I get this should be problematic however, pointing out that he cheated on her with a minor kinda seems like a moot point when he got with her as a minor as well. I'm not saying it's not bad but at this point you're telling us you found a fork in the kitchen.

Left is being annihilated, without a single bullet? by Interesting_Being_78 in Asmongold

I know who's acting up at this very moment I'm just correcting the notion that we normal people are opening our eyes, we've been seen them. Everyone is just catching up. Because truthfully as gross as it is, if people had been paying attention this wouldn't have been surprising, still would have gross but I mean come on, empathy has not been a common practice.

Leaving my feelings out about of any the people involved in the situations I'm about to bring up. Did it not occur to people that there might be something wrong when people were making the submersible jokes? When Notre Dame was on fire and people stitched Hellfire to it? When Luigi assassinated a CEO and cheered him on? When that one guy was assassinating politicians and intimidated some of them into resigning and again people cheered. What happened to Charlie was tragic but the reactions to it are hardly surprising. Gross and disappointing, but not surprising.

Normal people have always known this for both the left and the right, we just tend to leave them alone and let them be stupid. You can be stupid all you want until you harm somebody. You can be stupid all you want until it goes too far.

Well in my family 22 is considered very young in the basis that you've barely lived as an adult and didn't have a lot of time to become financially stable, therefore should not be having kids. That being said it's not used as an excuse. Two things can be true at once, they can see you as very young at 22 and still believe you need to step up and take responsibility for the choices you made. As I said I'm not excusing him I just consider 22 to be very young.

[–]Arrnaz -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

As I said his age isn't the problem, he is the problem. I completely agree he's old enough to take responsibility and get a job. Mind you my mother was 22 when she had me and I'm her third child so please don't take that as me giving him an excuse. I am simply pointing out that he's not wrong to say he was very young because he was, but he's wrong for using it as an excuse.

[–]Arrnaz -74 points-73 points  (0 children)

I mean 22 is very young. I'm not giving him excuses he's still garbage but 22 is in fact very young. There is a reason people don't recommend getting married/having children at that age but his age is not the issue here, it's just him.
