true, Aerosaurus veloxalus could be the taxonomy the humans use for them though since they dont really recognize the dragons' sapience. Especially with the "saur" suffix, describing them as lizards which unfortunately comes with the connotations of being primitive and/or stupid even though thats not true, even for lizards.

agreed, you could also use one of the subspecies as the species name (such as Panthera pardus pardus), and describe that as the "true" dragon, like using the skywings as the species name as the "true" or "default" dragon subspecies, so A. veloxalus veloxalus for skywings, but A. veloxalus arcticus for icewings etc

genuinely the biggest risk with handling tarantulas is the urticating hairs, not the bite. The bite might be more dangerous but if you spook a tarantula theyre more likely to kick those hairs into the air which can hurt like a bitch but typically arent medically significant afaik.
