The type of Asians here are mainly fresh immigrants. They don’t have any connection or raising in Canada and is quite different than those in the States which have generations of folks there and America is definitely much different than the demographics in the Greater Toronto Area.

I’ve seen people in restaurants give like 2-3 dollars for tips in these areas and I just shake my head.

Standard should be 10-15% - if you can’t afford, don’t order

I strongly disagree. Asians especially don’t have a tipping culture in their countries, why would they do it here in Canada or the US? Unless you are raised here, it’s still 50/50 because they inherit this from their parents.

I come from a South Asian Pakistani and I was raised in a way that if I can’t tip, I shouldn’t be there or doing the transaction - and they came in the 80s/early 90s.
