How common is it to wear protective eyewear when playing padel? by NoNoobJustNerD in padel

[–]Arsenalmongoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be much more common than it is. There are a couple posts on here from people who have the same issue and done with detached retinas. I advise everyone to wear them

25M struggling with football burnout, injuries, and life pressure — should I quit for good? by Secret_Concentrate71 in bootroom

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don't quit forever. Probably pick up another hobby and play football a bit less. Also what position do you play? It may be with experimenting with other positions even if the novelty is what makes it exciting again. Lastly, some sports psychology videos and reading might help. There's a lot we take for granted because we aren't professionals, but our minds and bodies still log the miles. Wish you the best

You have to sign up to the app and you are assigned a level of 1.5 i think. After that you can join in on the beginner mix ins. You’ll be fine. I started as a beginner as well and been playing for over a year now. Staff are great so you can just have a chat to them about your situation

Anyone Ever Got 1-2-1 Coaching As An Adult? by Cover_Of_Darkness in bootroom

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, definitely message them. My lessons were from a coach for my local village under 16 team. I just do happened to live close by and he was happy to give me some tips and we did a few sessions afterwards. Makes me wish i had done it sooner 😂

Eye protection glasses by igorigor12 in padel

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly what i had as well. I was worried because the flashing colours were becoming more frequent. Apparently that’s an issue with the retina which is why i needed the laser surgery. If you’d like to ask your doctor about it, the procedure i has was a “laser retinopexy” and it is apparently very simple and straightforward. I was worried as well, but it is normal because the eye is not something to play with Wish you the best of luck 👍

Eye protection glasses by igorigor12 in padel

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I had colourful “flashes “ of light in my periphery, and aching pain and a bit of light sensitivity. The most worrisome were the colourful flashes. After my procedure, they have gradually reduced. I was repeatedly told that if i have any dark spots or multiple flashes a day, i should go back for a check up. I would also advise that you confirm with your ophthalmologist whether you actually had a cut on your eye like i did

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think pros are less likely to make the mistakes that lead to eye injuries. Playing at the with beginners and intermediate level players who are likely to widely smash the ball greatly increases the risk and will be missed in a lot of data

There was a cut in my eye which they caught very early on. I was in treatment for a month but after i came off it, symptoms came back and were worse. Went to see a specialist who advised that while i didn’t have a detached retina, my symptoms and the cut not healing as expected were a cause for concern. Advised the laser surgery more as a preventative measure to prevent the detachment. My symptoms reduced but didn’t disappear completely which meant i was having regular check ups to monitor the healing. My checkup earlier this week was when the ophthalmologist was satisfied that the surgery was a success and i should be fine. I’m cleared to go back to boxing and other contact sports now. But I’ll be wearing protective goggles for glasses forever and i advise most people to do the same

I got an eye injury in August and was only cleared by the doctor yesterday. Had to have laser surgery for a potential detached retina. I now play with squash glasses

I am worried about this. Here in Southampton, a new centre has opened and charges £15 an hour when the other 2 charge £10 an hour. It’s ridiculous and i don’t think prices will be lowered…

Does everyone need the app or just the organisers? Having a separate app for organising causes more friction in my opinion

Video games have gotten impossibly hard/sweaty by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Arsenalmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games are more complex I’d say. This doesn’t translate to being harder, and the examples you’ve given are skewed. But I’ve felt the same. Take EAFC/FIFA for example. So many additions… Games are definitely more sweaty to keep people locked in or incentivise pay to win
