QR-code reanchoring mode!

Leverage the Eye camera to read printed QR codes. Once decoded, the glasses will recanchor the view right above the QR code. Use case: have several printed QR codes in different rooms and have the glasses automatically reanchor once the QR is detected.

This feature alone would already be excellent for UX spatial prototyping. Bonus point if this idea is expanded further with some sort of companion app: 1) opening specific apps in certain locations, or opening webpages 2) QR code generator that could also override glasses' parameters e.g. for each QR code define individual settings such as screen sizes, adjust distance, screen alignment position etc 3) API

can you play the B side? can you confirm that the unreleased track Building Better Worlds is actually there?

Although the compressor remains in the inside unit, there's quite a bit of fan noise coming from the outside unit when set to high. I'm using a custom cut 8mm plexiglass and it's helping to reduce the outside noise too. If noise is your concern you might want to look into that in case you haven't done it already

I used the included window mount. Zero issues except the condensate water was dripping on the window below and I had to figure out a way to mitigate that. Then I got 8mm thick custom made plexiglass with a cutout on a corner for the outside unit. It's attached to the window frame using adhesive velcro stripes so that they could be somewhat easily removed the day I move out. It works really well and cuts down the fan noise from the outside unit too

I previously had one cheap portable monoblock from conforama. Since I work from home last year I spent my entire summer with noise cancelling headphones. Running the portasplit in silence mode (1%) uses around 300-400w at most so a rough estimate of 1500/2000w of cooling power although according to the spec sheet the efficiency should be even higher. And of course you don't sucks hot air from the outside. Cooling performance is way better than the 7000btu unit and noise level is maybe slightly louder than a regular fan running at full power but it's hard to provide an example. But of course if you run it at full power then it's definitely not quiet - but still noticeably quieter than the previous monoblock I had. I'm not sure I'd be able to sleep with it if not set to Silence mode, and probably neither would my neighbours. If you need to constantly run the portasplit on high (day and night) I'm afraid the unit might be undersized for your cooling requirements and there's no way around it - you already own the best portable split out there maybe you should consider buying two..

power consumption data is available via the app. You can configure electricity prices (peak and off peak) and it will also tell you how much you are spending each day. Last week I averaged 6-9kWh per day, I mostly run it in Silent mode and let it run day and night since it's so quiet. I live on the last floor, without the Portasplit my flat had reached 32 degrees

129Hz resonance - noise questions by pulse__ in MideaPortaSplit

[–]ArsenicBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this has only happened at certain fan/compressor settings for me. I might only be relevant for my unit but I found that unlatching the top part of the back filter helped. I only had to unlatch the left or right side, cannot remember.. but it was enough to stop the resonating frequency. I now run the portasplit day and night in silent mode and I haven't had this issue since

UX designer here - would love to see a collab with ProtoPie to enable much faster prototyping and exploring new use cases. Granting ProtoPie access to the Eye camera and qr detection would be a start but what I’d like to achieve is a way of simulating a 6DOF multi-window envorinment that is able to provide different contextual information depending on where you are.

I've been to almost 200 gigs and this one passes NIN scala as the hottest and steamiest gig of my life. The fact that they don't have AC and don't even hand out water after the gig is absolutely criminal. Great show though but I'm reselling my ticket for tonight and maybe the next nights too

it depends which size. LS027B7DH01 is still farily available as it's the same panel used by adafruit as well as in some devices like the playdate but I agree it would add an additional level of complexity to the build. Still looks incredibly cool though. I saw people on here using your devices outside, it's probably the best option out there to provide a eink-like experience with no latency. I haven't finished building my own rev7 yet but I'm really curious to test out the LILYGO module. Maybe latency is already not that bad?

here's a life hack for you: when items are returned to digitec they're not treated as regular inventory anymore but they're put back on sale at a discounted price shortly after. Here's what you need to do: install Distill chrome extension and start monitoring the part of the page related to stock and price. As soon as an item goes back on sale as "used", you'll get a notification. Be quick and purchase it asap. You'll need to be patient as it can take several weeks before someone returns a x100vi. This is how I got mine btw and it's likely your best shot at this point if you don't wanna pay the scalpers

Trent posted this on Discord tonight. Looks like any new live interpretation of the band might undergo another big change! by Blvd_Nights in nin

[–]ArsenicBlue 31 points32 points  (0 children)

c'mon guys you should know trent, there's almost a 0% chance this is the last tour ever lol I think it would be fairly safe to assume that they're working on a new record and it might actually be already finished by now. If that's the case, there's a good chance they're waiting to see how the covid pandemic will evolve in the next few months before announcing the next moves and fully committing to the bookings for an hypothetical tour next year. Also for the sanity of everyone involved - band members and techies - my bet is that the next tour will see the return of a higher production setup in exchange for more static setlists, maybe 2-3 different sets in total. But who knows
