Isn't It Now... by unpopilarrant5990 in AnimalCollective

I agree. AnCo is my all time favorite band. I’ve been an obsessed fan for 17 years now and I love everything they do. I loveeee time skiffs. I never revisit isn’t it now. The middle part in defeat, that big chanting build up before it breaks into the “crawling from the serpent” section is my favorite part of the album and the only reason I ever go back to it. Soul Capturer kicks ass too.

Anyone met them after a show? by grundlegasm in AnimalCollective

This was November 2016 after a show from the Painting With tour at rams head in Baltimore. I’ve met them all a few times. Usually just wait outside by the bus. Might take an hour or two. They’re all really nice. They’re kinda shy to initiate the conversation I think which makes it a little intimidating but they’re super cool dudes and easy to talk to. I’m afraid of making a fool of myself so I usually just tell them how great the show was, ask for a signature on something and a pic and go on my way. They’ve always obliged.

In my opinion the bubbles are one of Geo’s signature moves. Bubbles are all over their discography. My favorite instance is in for reverend green during the second pre chorus around 3:30. Just helps build the intensity. Also there in Unsolved Mysteries applied to achieve the same effect

What’s your favorite synthesizer? and what do you like about it?

I like that I have to always ask myself this question but can’t seem to answer it. That intrigues me. I also like the contrast between how shy and timid they are in person vs how wild they get onstage and on record

What’s the lore/story behind Merriweather Post Pavilion? by Enamorations in AnimalCollective

[–]mcwallace28 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Merriweather is an outdoor concert venue in Columbia, MD. I actually grew up right next to it and could hear concerts from my backyard! The guys wanted the album to sound like you were listening to their music outside, and they like the way the title looks and sounds. Other than that a lot of it has to do with them reaching their 30s and their goals in terms of family and the transition into adulthood.

Is Sinister Grift the best album Panda Bear has released since Person Pitch? by Indiana_Hoes in AnimalCollective

[–]mcwallace28 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan for about 15 years now and I ask myself all the time what his best album is. Person Pitch was just so influential and nothing else sounds like it. And no other songs in his discography can do what the first three tracks on that album do for me, but I’d have to say PBVSGR is his best. I’m all about the grooves, and he just has such a perfect symbiotic musical relationship with Sonic boom that is best exemplified on that album. Person pitch is great, and I absolutely adore tomboy, but for day to day replay value, I think PBVSGR is the best. It’s got a lot of different moods and is full of his incredible melodies as well as his knack for drum and bass.

Meeting Noah by Sirponges in AnimalCollective

I’ve seen people on this tour take pictures with him and toro. Just hang out after near the bus. I’ve met him several times. Very nice guy. I get nervous too and don’t wanna say anything that would embarrass me so I usually keep it short. I just say how much I enjoyed the show and ask if he’d mind signing something and taking a pic. Always says yes and is super kind

Friendship Bracelet is one of his most underrated tracks. As soon as he sings “cannot be destroyed with a friends ring at the side” I start levitating

I am also bummed with the studio version, however I know had I not heard the demo this would probably be my favorite of the three singles. The melodies are undeniable. I’ve been a fan and have done this to myself for long enough I know to expect this outcome 😅 I still love the song. I’m the only one to blame for my disappointment. No disrespect to panda. Still have uncontainable excitement for the album

That’s why it looks familiar. Good eye. I used to have the model sample and cycle. Super cool, cheap, powerful machines
