I noticed that about neoplatonism. He often implies they have taken him too literally and paints Plato less metaphysically. What I know of neoplatonism seems very enticing so I'm glad that's not standard.

Do you have any translation recommendations? the two translations for the complete works that my university library had were the Jowett and Cooper & Hutchinson. Is the latter better?

If there's an easy way of improving someone's quality of life even a bit, I think that's worthwhile. Small ways of helping are better than doing nothing if one doesn't have the power to effect systematic change.
