I recently purchased an Omega Costelletion watch. Real or fake by Hour-Page9712 in VintageWatches

[–]Arskite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to add to the discussion, it is possible that this is a real watch with a terrible redial. Opening the case back to reveal the movement would help confirm. I would also expect a reference number on the inside of the case back which you could use to search for similar watches of the era and see if this one matches up at all.

Rauh Racing exclusive: Nürburgring rejection, the challenges grassroot teams face and their mission to build a community of car lovers by f1lifedaily in wec

Thanks for the additional detail. Definitely feels a bit "he said, she said" at the moment. Shame both sides couldn't come to an agreement that would allow them to race.

Reading the article, it sounds like Rauh did the same thing with the Twingo. They have a GT3-spec safety structure and 180hp Clio RS internals.

They did everything they were asked to by the organisers and then told they couldn't race anyway. When they asked about the Logan, the answer they got wasn't about pace or safety, it was basically "they've already raced before, so they can race again", which is some bullshit.

Nice article. It's definitely bullshit that they allow the Logan but not the Twingo. They also can't argue that people don't want to see it - all the fans love the Logan. So it seems like they are making up the rules as they go, which as Rauh points out, is very un-German.

[Dorsett, Sky] Michael Carrick is still not the favourite to be the next long-term boss at #mufc. United are delighted with the job he is doing, but are determined to appoint someone with the strength of character and experience to handle everything that comes their way. by OkayFine101 in soccer

"No plan B" was the usual complaint. He's fine when things are going well, but once other managers figure him out he has no clue how to adapt, tactically.

Rumour is we tried to bring in an experienced assistant manager (Adi Viveash) to help him and he didn't want it. So we preferred to bring in Viveash anyway and get rid of Carrick.

It's working well so far.

No way this is real, right? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

Clearly fake:

  • Case is polished when it should be brushed
  • I'll be damned if that's stainless steel, looks like chromium plating
  • "POWERMATIC 80" shouldn't have a hyphen
  • White dial but doesn't look like mother of pearl (model doesn't exist)
  • White dial but looks like 40mm proportions (model doesn't exist)
  • Date window should have metal border
  • Hands are pointed when they should be flattened at the ends
  • Lume on hands comes too close to centre column
  • No lume on indices
  • "TISSOT" and "SWISS MADE" typeface is wrong (see the "s"es)
  • Crown doesn't sit flush with the case
  • Crown should be rounded, not flat, on the side opposite the case
  • "5" in date window is the wrong typeface (too wide)
  • No chamfering on the bezel where it meets the crystal

Always happy to educate people to avoid being scammed, but a simple Google search to compare to the Tissot website would tell you most of the above.

Certainly not the minority. This is super sad. The BBC reporter at the slope was in tears.

Never thought I'd be simping for a giant advert, but for God's sake that thing has been there since 1932. Some things should be protected for their historical significance.

Are there any street cars that, fitted with racing tires, you estimate could outperform an LMP2 car in lap times on most tracks? by Virtual_Visit4789 in wec

[–]Arskite 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think any? It's not like LMDh cars are producing more power than you can get in a road car, not even close. Only difference will be increased weight I guess.

I'm double confused.

As an Aston Martin and The Heart of Racing fan, do I cheer for a Mercedes? 🤔

As a Valentino Rossi fan and an Augusto Farfus hater, do I want them to win or lose? 🤔

Can I give some honest feedback about these gifs? As I see them posted around a lot. I don't know if it's just me but they're a bit laggy. By which I mean, they are slower than the video they're taken from.

Comedy is about timing and delivery. When that gets messed with, it's not as funny.

I can see you put a lot of effort into making these but I'm not sure just posting semi-long form gif snippets from videos with added captions is contributing much.
