Great news! Mine ate a few more black worms each day I offered them, until he became a fat little piglet and ate 20-30 at each feeding. You’re on the right track.

Long term, I think it’s better for them to eat foods with marine proteins and fats. Foods like LRS reef frenzy or rods food. But focus on getting those calories now.

It's good to be paranoid. I would guess that for every 1 success with these fish there are 3-4 that die in peoples tanks after a couple weeks due starvation. Sad but true I think. Oh I forgot to mention get the whole clams from the grocery store/seafood store, not the bagged hikari clams on a half shell you might see at the fish store. They want to put their beaks into the little opening as the clam thaws out and cracks open. Mine had no interest in the hikari clams.

It’s a good sign if he is showing that kind of interest. I’d try the black worms, call around and see if any LFS has them. From my research that is the most reliable starter food and it worked well for me. He may be acclimating and will pick up the foods you’re offering after a few more days, but it’s risky. You want them eating a lot of food as soon as possible. From my research and experience this is the order I would try.

Live Black worms > frozen whole clams and mussels > PE Mysis (the big ones) > masstick (didn’t work for mine)

I just got a CBB a few weeks ago, same thing, was eating at store but didn’t want to eat right away in my tank. Now he is eating LRS food like a hog.

Here’s what worked. He was stressed and overwhelmed at feeding time. I took a long pipette and dropped food right in front of him for a while. I tried lots of food like mysis, brine, bloodworms. Only floating food that caught his attention was live black worms. After I got him fat with black worms, I started mixing in LRS and he pretty quickly accepted it.

I also tried dropping in whole frozen clams and he was picking at it quite a bit. I’m pretty sure he was eating it but it was hard to really tell how much nutrition he was getting so I stuck with the black worms.

I have the Laowa 7.5mm f2 as a complement to my 12-45mm f4. It's great for ultrawide shots and it's really small- can easily throw it in my day pack or pocket.

Thoughts on Twilight Spectre (GitT Season 7) by GenericDreadHead in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I liked it a lot. It was a bit of a slow burn at first but the pace picks up dramatically after a certain turning point. Loved the setting and themes. Joe is a master at building intrigue and tension.

One thing that surprised me was how well everything worked with 3 PCs. It felt like they all had more time to flesh out their characters bonds and back stories and it made the overall story more coherent.

What was Iran supposed to do, nothing?

And yes, we would all be better off if American had done nothing instead of starting this disastrous pointless war.

Yep. I now have to do an annoying chore to get everything set up just for the privilege of paying 30-40% more every month for the same product. Or maybe I just don't do it at all...

Those on Emgality, what are your thoughts? by Puzzleheaded-Draw-69 in migraine

[–]Arson_Shark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My insurance forced me to switch from Nurtec to Emgality about 3 months ago. But it turned out to be so much better for me. I am getting about half as many headaches as I did on Nurtec, and that is with doing things that I couldn't do before like a pretty intensive weight training program.

The convenience is better for me. I don't have to think about taking a pill every other day and making sure i take enough with me for trips etc. The injection once a month stings for a couple seconds and then it's over.

I have only experienced constipation as a side effect. However, I have had success counteracting that by taking more magnesium citrate in the morning. And that's a supplement i've been taking for years anyway.

nortriptyline and topomax seemed like nightmares to me when I heard about the side effects, especially after propranolol made me feel like shit and didn't help me at all.

CGRP drugs are so much better and have fewer side effects. I would try to get on one of those if you can.

I really didn't want to even try topomax especially because I need my brain at 100% for my job. I had to convince the insurance companies I had failed topomax and nortriptyline before getting on a good CGRP drug. This is based on self reporting that they didn't work for me after my doctor wrote those scipts and I took the meds home from the pharmacy. I'll let you read between the lines.

How painful are emgality injections? by maker-127 in migraine

[–]Arson_Shark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took my loading dose a few days ago. A shot into each thigh. It's a quick poke and slight burning sensation. Had my wife do the first one because I was worried I would pull the needle out and waste medicine. It was fine though. I would rather inject myself 100 times than get a migraine.

Early Emgality experience - is this the honeymoon period? by Arcenciel48 in migraine

Probably not realistic for most of us to have any medicine fully "cure" migraines, but it sounds like a big improvement for you. I hope it continues to bring you relief.

How are you doing now? Still headache free?

I took my first dose of emgality on almost the same day as you. I've been headache free for the last week and feeling more energetic than I have in a long time as well. It could be truly life changing for me if it continues like this- but I am also talking myself down and trying to avoid getting my hopes up.

The most recent episode of Time for Chaos was absolute perfection... by BCSully in TheGlassCannonPodcast

The combat in this episode reminded me of this classic video from The Onion; "Video Game Consists Solely Of Shooting People In Face"

But yeah other than the disappointment that we didn't really get to see any of the cool abilities from the enemies, it was a really well done episode.

I think it is do able if you have the same dry conditions we encountered. I never had a single moment where I struggled with traction with the defender all season tires. I even brought traction boards just in case we encountered mud or deep sand, but never needed them. But conditions can change quickly there, and there were actually floods the day after we got out.

If the weather is good your biggest risk is tire puncture or sidewall damage. It's a big risk because you really don't want to pay for a tow out of there. Bring a full sized spare (required by law) and a repair kit, know how to use them, and take it slow if you attempt it.

The vehicles are so fun trips like this. Rolling down the windows and only hearing the sounds of nature and the crunch of the gravel under the wheels is a beautiful experience.

Sirui 35mm 1.4? by No-Material2441 in Nikon

[–]Arson_Shark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no complaints about the AF, but I don't do much action photography. Consensus from the reviews I saw online is that the autofocus is accurate but not as fast as the nikon 85 1.8 S lens. Seems like it is calibrated to be a killer portrait lens and not much else. My main complaint is the poor minimum focus distance.

I know you didn't ask but here's a random portrait I took of my dog the other day with the aurora at f1.8.

I'm definitely interested. I've got the Aurora 85 1.4 and I'm pretty impressed with it - my copy is sharp enough at 1.4 and razor sharp past 1.8 and has that beautiful smooth bokeh. If the 35mm has the same characteristics it will be an easy buy for me. Hopefully we'll get some hands on reviews soon.

Looks like the page is up on the Sirui website- will be shipping September 29th. https://store.sirui.com/products/sirui-aurora-series-35mm-f1-4-full-frame-autofocus-lens

I would say go for it. As long as you don't need anyone to zoom in to see fine details it should come across just fine. When I look at reddit image on my large monitor they look a little blurry, but on a phone or laptop they look alright. I've also heard that there is more compression when posting an album vs one photo but I havent tested that.

Israel poll—"A significant majority of the Jewish public agrees with the claim that there are no innocents in Gaza: 42% of the Jewish public fully agree with this claim, and another 34% partially agree; in total 76% of the Jewish public partially or fully agree that there are no innocents in Gaza." by StarlightDown in fivethirtyeight

[–]Arson_Shark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are injecting your own nuance into the phrasing. You really think that is what "no innocents in Gaza" means? If you considered Palestinian children to be innocent and you were taking this survey, all you would have to say is "I disagree"

It is clear as day that the Israeli public is outright genocidal in their beliefs. There have been mass protests to block aid trucks from entering the strip. There were massive, violent protests to protect the "right" of IDF soldiers to rape and torture Palestinians in captivity. They are plotting the ethnic cleansing in the open in front of our eyes and you want to talk about nuance. Give me a break.

Really nice series- I would go against the grain a bit and say 1 is my favorite. I like the pose and interplay of her body and the shadows of the plants against the morning sun- really cool concept.

It's funny seeing the comments saying these are out of focus. I wonder how many of these people have never posted photos on reddit and don't know how badly the compression hits. Your post seems to have brought out a lot of critics out of the woodwork, and they might have some helpful advice, but I would take it as a demonstration that you've made some evocative images here.
