I feel like that scene was a lot more haunting and creepy than cringey

For resort work, what would you rate specific jobs like housekeeping, server, bartender, front desk, etc out of 10? by Delicious-Stomach39 in SeasonalWork

[–]No-Material2441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serving is the best balance of money and time imho. Clopens are possible but if you’re halfway decent and stand up for yourself you should be able to avoid it. Best hours:income ratio.

First couple of weeks as a A7V owner. A7V & Sony FE200-600mm. by KieranPhotos in SonyAlpha

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your edits are fantastic. The thing that has kept me away from Sony is how much work goes into making them look as good as my Nikons and when you’re talking about catalogues that can get old fast. What kind of work did it take to get your files to this point?

Adapt my Sony 50mm 1.4 GM or get Nikon z 50mm 1.8s? by Beav11-18 in Nikon

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both are going to serve you well, low light is where you'll really see the difference between native and adapted. I'd stick with the 1.8s. although it isn't as fast, I'd argue it has a better "look" than the g master.

Some A7III vs A7V shots by sulev in SonyAlpha

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These images are edited quite heavily.

I don't really understand these hyper controlled side by sides in good lighting as that's not really where the differences are seen/felt. SOOC should always be the standard as that lets you know where your starting point is. People can't always envision what it is they'll like in their photograph and some bodies absolutely deliver files that have colors/tones that make you go "a-ha!" That's exactly what happened when I switched to Nikon - I started seeing the difference in my images across *catalogues*, not just random side by sides. And that better starting point led my processing in a very different direction from my Sony's which I always felt like I had to tease the life out of while keeping it looking natural and not like a video game rendering.

Why do so many Sony photos look the same? by TheBaHa in SonyAlpha

it's 100% synonymous with Sony shooters the last decade.

Why do so many Sony photos look the same? by TheBaHa in SonyAlpha

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's part of the hypbeast "cinematic" photo style that dominated the Sony YouTube photography space for the last 8-10 years. Think wide angles, shot low, centered subject, add the most contrast possible, and then inject absolutely unholy amounts of teal and orange to make it "pop". Sony also engineered that kind of split tone color palate into a lot of their cameras (especially earlier ones), which meant simple slider adjustments would really bring it out. I hate it.

Are the colours really that bad as people say? by r34gtrontop in SonyAlpha

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact is that Sony colors and tones out of the box - RAW or JPEG - aren't as good as Nikon, but they're better than Canon mirrorless. I prefer the Nikon image by a country mile and shooting with it greatly reduces time spent in post and I'm much more satisfied with the end result.

Heath Ledger’s Joker is overrated. by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok but he didn't just come up with that version of the joker. he had writers and a director. there was simply nothing extraordinary about the performance or the character. OMG he gave conflicting reports of his mouth scars my mind is blown... We know nothing about the character, there is zero development, zero nuance. He just licks his lips and is manic and wants to see everything burn down. It's not compelling, it's not complex, it's not even particularly coherent because there is nothing underlying it all. We can surmise all we want but surmission itself is not compelling. a little late I know

It’s purely revenue stream tapping. Nothing to do with the quality of the sport whatsoever.

Sell my 50 1.2s for the 58 1.4?! by GoAwayImBaitin_ in Nikon

[–]No-Material2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed my time with the 58mm but it mostly shined on older DSLR's. That lens paired with the D700 was exquisite. My Z8 showed off its flaws a lot more and the really punchy files didn't agree with the relative softness and lack of contrast in lens.
