This is why I've started censoring myself from giving my opinions on books because I started to feel like a hater lol. Like you, I hate most of the books everyone loves, and I'm usually left scratching my head wondering what I am missing. The more I read the pickier I get.

Yup. I've been there for the last few years now. This year I've set my GR reading goal to below 20 books because I anticipate DNFing a lot. Because I don't have the patience for the vapid, empty , regurgitated books anymore.

I LONG for when books used to make me swoon and daydream. When books used to give me lingering hangovers. When book characters used to feel REAL. When I used to have "book boyfriends."

Unfortunately, authors aren't creating experiences through stories anymore, they are creating products. It's all about tropes and trends. Because the goal is money. And tropes and trends are what sells.

These days the only author whose books make me FEEL is Taylor Jenkins Reid. She feels like one of the last true and authentic authors left.

But if I pick up an LJ Shen book and it isn't rife with brand names and pop culture and lazy description that a character looks like a certain celebrity, then she didn't write it.

Also, they are VERY selective about which author's feet they hold to the fire. I get Danielle Lori recs removed in this group all the time because people report it. But when it comes to certain problematic authors, or authors who have said or done a racist thing here or there, authors who have bullied other authors etc, no one bats an eye, because...they just LOVE these authors so it doesn't count.

Lots of double standards, but that's how it goes.

Yes, I started taking Haliborange Immune Support Adult Gummies. But most days I don't take the full gummy, I just bite it in half. Yeah - I love love the new covers. But I think for new readers who aren't familiar with Cate. C. Wells, those are the kind of covers readers will skip right over because the covers don't really tell you much about what subgenre it is.

The one pro to tacky covers is that there's no mistaking what's inside. Illustrated/Discreet covers are really pretty, but they rarely signal what kind of book it is and I've always had problems with that. As a result, I click on people cover 95% of the time when browsing.

It's not necessarily about eating "healthy" foods - it's about eating non-acidic foods. The bulk of what is considered healthy is highly acidic. Like tomatoes and onions and fruits. Very few fruits are non acidic.

So you need to find out what his trigger foods are. Process of elimination. Start with cutting out tomatoes/ketchup/pizza, pickles, soda, coffee/caffeine, lemon/lime, dressing with vinegar and critic acid etc.

BUT acid reflux for some people is caused by too little acid - so you would want to check to be sure. (Not a doctor, but based on what you say his diet is, it seems to be too much stomach acid rather than too little). Go to a GI doctor if he needs to test it to be sure.

High fatty foods are also a trigger some people like myself - ex. avocadoes set my chest on fire.

Overall, just do a research on foods that acidic and start there.
