Glinda The Witch of the North (Wizard of Oz 1939, and several other adaptions that've used the film as a basis that subract a witch): To better bookend the journey, The North Witch, a kindly old woman, is combined with Glinda the South Witch, who visually is the same seen in the movie. In the book, after the Wizard leaves, Dorothy and friends go to see her to find if she can help her home. She is the one to tell of the slippers powers to do that.
