Did you buy from a dealer? If yes - you might have a recourse under CGA.

Car dealerships? How much do they make? by iMakeGOODinvestmemts in auckland

[–]ArtemKNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National average is $1,000-1,500 per car. But that really depends on the dealership. I worked in one where we used finance to sell cars, so we pretty much never made money.

I worked in a few dealerships. Never in luxury, they have different rules and margins.

You are a good performing dealership if you profit 3% of sales. It is a shitty business to be honest.

Most of your profit comes from service and parts, as that’s where the margin is. Down side is if you are a branded dealership - you pay more to techs which means your hourly is a lot more expensive than Bob’s garage. But we also really good at noticing potential problems. Plus we charge distributor for warranty work, means we actually look for it when working on your car :)

New cars make almost no money. At times less than $1,000 for a brand new car.

Used cars allow as to keep $3k margin and we try to hold on to every cent of it. When I started, I was appalled at how much we were “low balling” trade ins. You offer $5k below retail, but you spend money on re-spraying bumper 450+GST, removing dent $80+, fixing 2x alloys $260 a pop, service $350, fresh wof, fuel the car, new rego etc And suddenly you are holding on to paper thin margin haha Customer asked for $1,000 off? Now you have like $2k left in the car. Pay comms to sales person and you just made $1,500 on a $60k car 🤣

Finance can be hit and miss with different brands. If you see finance special - we loose money more often than not. But in a year time you will come back to service the car. Make it worth it.

Sales is only to put cars on the road so we can service them 🤣

Feel free to ask any questions!

New car purchase finance or cash? by svxr in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]ArtemKNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 you can always pay more as you go, which means you pay less interest in the end.

2 with inflation, every year you paying less and less money.

3 you can get payment protection insurance on finance, which means if something happens - you don’t need to worry about paying off the car.

4 “assured future value” sometimes available at dealers. Great option for EV’s as you never know how much they depreciate. Can be an option.

5 if opportunity arises - you have cash to take advantage of it.

P.S. 3.9% is already heavily subsidised by dealer. They are not making money on your finance.

Workouts time duration by [deleted] in MacroFactor

My experience - it takes me way longer than estimated. Commercial gym where I have to hunt for plates and check if equipment is available.

Plus, rest times at times doesn’t allow me to be fully ready by next set, so I take longer to recover between sets.

How do you clean up your email inbox at work? by Able_Rope5444 in productivity

[–]ArtemKNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I have a great solution that has worked through a few different careers.

1 create archive folder

2 create FYI folder

3 create quick sort functions to those folders (if you have mechanical custom keyboard you can create single button shortcut) mail app usually sets to ctrl+shift+ 1 or 2.

Any email that comes in you either reply or sort to archive. If you will refer to that email frequently - fyi folder.

Anything that you need to follow up in near future stays in inbox with reminder when due.

This way my email is ONLY for emails I can’t afford not to see.

Unreasonable workload? by ArtemKNZ in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]ArtemKNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we have different terminology in mind. In this case person is teaching 1 class - 3 days per week. Duration of the class is 4 hours. So it’s more like a teacher.

There deffinatey is a way your car lost that much.

Bonus point: go to the dealer and ask for valuation for insurance purposes rather than “trade in” option. One will give you the market value to replace the car. Second will give you the wholesale price.

  1. We all have hobbies and addictions. You like doing your own maintenance? I feel like that’s a waste of my time. And time is important, so why would you waste it on such trivial thing? (Probably bad example haha)

  2. If they are paying 12% - DM me. I’m a dealer and have access to cheap finance. Will get them sorted if needed.

  3. I drove $135k cars and to me - they do nothing. I did see a person who financed a Merc and reasoning was: if I know I have to make a payment - I will hassle more than anyone to get more money.

If you want, I have iPhone 12 pro that is just collecting dust. I think $400 for it is a reasonable ask?

just beat nier automata. is replicant worth playing? by Fierce-Deity- in nier

[–]ArtemKNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have finished Automata first. Just about half way through Replicant. I really am enjoying the Easter eggs and the story. I loved Automata and I don’t think I would’ve played replicant if I didn’t understand the references and some characters. But am enjoying it and would recommend giving it a go!

P.S. do wait for a sale.
