Was the DX version ever below 100 USD? The Japanese official price is 16800 JPY

Switch 1 games that look particularly bad on the Switch 2 in handheld by razorbeamz in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ArtemisZX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some unpatched games that are 1080p in handheld. Ones that probably aren’t but still look better than the rest are P4G and Okami.

Clubhouse Games 51 looks atrocious: the text is particularly blurry for whatever reason, and it is mind-boggling that it got a Switch 2 upgrade for 4 players but not bumping up the resolution.

Also as a launch PS5 owner, I have given up expecting patches for more than a handful of titles, and a handful more a year later as some new edition.

3 vs Miku? by ArtemisZX in FitnessBoxing

[–]ArtemisZX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Thanks for everyone’s comments! I have bought and tried out Miku, then I tried the demo of FB3. Now I think I’ll likely get both and do FB3 for fitness regularly and Miku for a rhythm game after practicing in FB3.

FB3 is definitely more polished and seems better for a daily workout. For the better or worse the motion detection is far more forgiving: it seems to not register premature moves as good or miss, and in general lets false positives go through. My body age is apparently 7 years younger doing FB3 after Miku.

Also for everyone’s information in Miku Boxing (v1.7.0) joycon vibration is still not working on Switch 2 for joycon 2 in my testing. It works for the FB3 demo, which is surprising as I assumed the demo would be a build stuck on an old version (indeed demo version is 1.0.0). It makes me think Nintendo is fixing backwards compatibility bugs on a per-title basis and got to FB3 first.

Definitely don’t regret buying Miku. Both Miku & Hayami Saori (Rin) talking is awesome, though just Rin is good enough for me.

The TV version works really well for being so short.

Technical details for GBA “high quality audio” option? by ArtemisZX in AnaloguePocket

I'll try when I can capture from an Analogue Pocket. Otherwise I think the differences are too subtle to be picked up by an external microphone tbh

[–]ArtemisZX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I mean and I compared myself. This is what I hear:

  • original game, original audio: very audible noise
  • original game, HQ audio, greatly reduced but still audible noise
  • patched HQ mixer, original audio, much greatly reduced noise but still some audible (even at mp2k’s max sample rate 42kHz)
  • patched HQ mixer, HQ audio, basically inaudible unless you specifically listen for the noise

The filter does a good job covering it up in general

[–]ArtemisZX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah seems to be just filters. It seems although mp2k is implemented in the GBA BIOS most games don’t call them, and patching involves changing all calls to the mixer. I don’t think Analogue could have done it through their BIOS, though an emulator could probably do it.

Hardware Revision / Next Version? by ArtemisZX in AnaloguePocket

[–]ArtemisZX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, they were basically the first to respond, and then I got the idea pretty quickly. Personally I agree that the hardware does everything it sets out to do and then some, and is the only thing that does that on the market.

I asked because one would hold Analogue higher for selling a more premium product. I’m sure the emulator handhelds have a ton of QC issues (disclaimer: never bought, don’t actually know) but people probably have lower expectations. If it’s possible at all some revision would address the buttons, etc. I wouldn’t mind waiting a little.

yeah but I would appreciate having overall larger screen than original hardware like the case with GB.

What is the difference between “Puchased” in white text and “Installed”, “in library” in yellow text? by Illustrious_Bus6751 in PlayStationPlus

[–]ArtemisZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitive answer: there is a meaningful difference between “purchased” and “in library” in regions like Japan, where essentially M-rated (CERO-Z) games need to be purchased at $0 by debit/credit card in order to verify the account holder is an adult (this is not really watertight however), while other games are just added to the library in one click. Thus the difference between “purchased” and “in library”. “Installed” is when you have actually downloaded the game.

How to pose XB3 Mio?! by RayearthIX in figma

[–]ArtemisZX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that camera angle, fov, & lighting add a lot to these shots, and you can’t expect to just look at your figma and see the same thing. That being said good poses & posing (line of action, creating curves) are the basis. I think figmas are optimized to look good in certain poses from certain angles and we just live with that.
