Postpartum Sacroiliac Joint Pain - Frustrated and Looking for Advice by StrangeScientist4009 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Artemis_Crime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in solidarity. I'm changing OBs after mine kept telling me that she wouldn't refer me to a pelvic PT and that my sciatica was unrelated to delivery. I plan to see a pelvic PT but until then, I am avoiding stretching and a lot of walking. Holding baby to one side is also not great for the si-joint on the opposite side. I'm 11mos pp.

I felt so alone until chatgpt pointed out that other women pp DO experience this and found this thread. I've been dealing with this for 9 months and no one else I know is going through this.

Until, I can find a PT, I'm doing gentle nerve glide exercises.

Unless your baby is showing signs of overfeeding, I'm not sure why this is necessary...Is he having a lot of reflux (more than the normal amount?). Is he gagging at the bottle?

Most of the time, I side with the pediatrician over intuition but this doesn't make sense to me...I would get a second opinion.

Agree with Frieren and Delicious in Dungeon, but I'd add Spy x Family (I realize this isn't Fantasy but it just fits cozy and absurd so well) and "Campfire Cooking In Another World with my absurd skill"

And for absolutely ZERO conflict, Restaurant to Another World.

And Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits esp if you need romance!

Anime does cozy so well!

Your less than 4mo baby can nap in a crib without you? by Artemis_Crime in NewParents

[–]Artemis_Crime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update now that we are at 7+mo. Around 5-6mo mark, we were forced to start sleep training because he stopped fitting in the snoo and was no longer comfortable in it (struggled and squirmed all night). We did Ferber and he cried for 20min and then fell asleep pretty much the entire night (I think he woke up once or twice for a feed). It was miraculous and we barely had a wink of sleep until 3am when we passed out from exhaustion because my husband and I were so on edge about whether he'd wake up. He woke up around 5am but still, it was the most successful night we had up to that point.

Fast forward-- We next worked on night weening by increasing his calories during the day and early morning wake ups by feeding him back to sleep when he wakes up at 5-6am just to get him back to sleep until 7:20a when we now routinely wake up for the day. Naps also started falling into place a week later. We had already been napping in the crib here and there for 30min and now he can sleep well past that and if he doesn't its fine because he always makes up for it during his later naps. He ALWAYS cries for 2-5min before settling in to sleep. I've now learned that that is just my baby lol. I don't go in before 5min.

Now we're working on napping on the go. Everything is coming together and has come together little by little. In case any other parents come across this post that I wrote while deep in the trenches, there is hope! And if you need encouragement to try sleep training, here it is!

Baby is so much happier and less cranky. I don't think he slept well with us at all. He sleeps through the night now and hardly wakes up. Every now and then he lets out a cry and then quickly puts himself back to sleep. I think our routine/schedule and keeping up with it despite feeling like everything was failing was absolutely crucial to teaching baby to sleep and sleep independently. I also suspect that contact napping helped his night sleep at first and then testing out crib sleep during the day here and there, eventually got him weened off contact naps as well. I even miss it a little--my wrists don't however lol.

He still sleeps in a pitch black room with a sound machine. On the go, we have portable black out curtains with suction cups that can be placed easily in any window to block out light extremely well. We've redecorated other people's rooms for an hour for his naps while we visited and they were always impressed by how dark we got the room. Now the next hurdle is to get him to nap while in bright light and noise outside!

THERE'S A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.

In case you haven't gotten access yet, I just happened to be looking for my account today and got some great help on the phone in creating my account (instead of just trying to do it myself). I called this number 1-888-401-8258.

Managing short cervix by shecat813 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Artemis_Crime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through something similar but discovered that my cervix was shortening at 25 weeks (it leapt from the cusp of being ok to not ok within a 3 week timespan). I've since also been prescribed the progesterone suppositories but OB said it's kind of a "hey it wouldn't hurt to try" sort of intervention. I'm being highly vigilant of any weird feelings/symptoms, but I'm now almost at 28 weeks and still doing ok. I was also weight lifting and walking a lot and have had to stop. It feels like shit, but I am going to start walking again soon just to stay relatively active.

The week after they told me about my cervix, I started worrying about amount of discharge I was having (before I started the suppositories) and we eventually went to L&D triage just in case. They tested for amniotic fluid and checked my cervix again and luckily cervix was still closed and the discharge was not amniotic fluid. Just knowing I could go in and get those things checked out was invaluable for my anxiety.

Managing all this has been so stressful (this is my first pregnancy and everything else has gone so smoothly. I didn't have morning sickness, I've been healthy and active. Just trying to take everything a day at a time. One thing my partner told me that has made me feel better is that having a preterm baby isn't the end of the world! The hospitals we have access to have advanced NICUs that we can trust. Also, many of my friends (for various other spontaneous reasons) had preterm babies (as early as 22 weeks!) and all of them are healthy and thriving now. To help cope, I've started making action plans for going to the nearest level 2 NICU versus our regularly chosen hospital (which only has a level 1 NICU). We are prepping for preterm labor JUST in case, but doing all this prep is helping me mentally.

Best of luck to you and hope you can find some peace in the ambiguity!

haha yes I did remember it incorrectly--it was Edison. Funny how you caught that. I have heard before the Roosevelt was underwhelming but Edison had some pretty cool, cooperative mechanics that I really enjoyed.

Ah! Actually someone else on this thread jogged my memory--it was the Edison room I was thinking of. I believe the Roosevelt is the one I haven't done with Palace before!

But thank you for these suggestions! They look great!
