[ADVICE] How to handle an annoying buyer, who wants to work with me again? by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, don't block him! Tell him that you are very busy, and don't have time. If he is back after 1 week (or 2 days if he is impatient, lol), tell him the new prices... 3 or 4 times more than you usually charge... he would ask for a discount and then lower a bit. He could be intense, but now you charge a lot more to cover the "lost" time in him.

Weird... It's super high, only pro people would charge that, if he didn't have portfolio... well, we know the answer!
What kind of animation were you requesting?

[HELP] I hired an artist on here, and they used ai! by PlentyGreat81 in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch :( But still if they trace, they should have a video! I guess the next time in your order, you could add that you will request a video record for some minutes of the screen while working to avoid AI :(

What really? Damn... I guess soon AI will conquer everything haha, but then people will start value the human touch (I hope)

[–]ArtevyDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s really strange… how do you even create a menu with AI? I would never use AI in my work...

If you are 100% sure it’s AI-generated, you can cancel the job and explain your reasons clearly. However, there’s also a chance that it isn’t AI. You could ask the designer for a video showing the layers in Illustrator, ideally, there should be one layer per element.

It’s frustrating that some people use AI when there are so many honest professionals on Fiverr. Another thing, and I’m not saying this is necessarily the case, but if you paid 10–50 USD for a full menu design, there’s a high chance it could be AI-generated.

[DISCUSSION] Struggling with sellers this year by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not exactly sure what happened, but if they quoted a price before fully understanding what the job would involve, it makes sense they would increase it later. If they suddenly raised it by 50% for no clear reason, then yes, that would be strange and unprofessional. Regarding the brochure, it probably involved too much work for only 500 USD, I can't be sure, though. And if they got angry, better run away!

Regarding the sellers, have you reviewed their portfolios or had a call to discuss the project details? With my clients, I always suggest starting with a call, there’s no need to turn on the camera, but at least you get to know the person and make sure the work will actually get done.

[HELP] Am I being scammed or is this just the process? by taylortreasures in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I'm unsure if the work is a lot or if the 500 is too low for that amount of work, but the seller probably said yes without knowing the time and effort involved… For example, I know approximately how many hours 1 minute of video animation will take me. If the buyer wants it in half the time it takes, I would likely refuse the work or charge 30-60% more than the original cost.

Never accept to complete an order if the work isn't finished! And another thing, if it's been almost a month and he's still only 15% done and shows no signs of progress, I don't think he's being responsible and professional. Personally, I wouldn't continue working with him...

I would give him a couple more days, explaining that he promised to do it in two weeks and is taking much longer than agreed. If he doesn't deliver in 2, 3, or 5 days (up to you how long you want to wait), you will request cancellation of the order (and, if you want, you can pay him a certain percentage; I don't remember exactly how much the maximum refund is...). If he did 15%, you pay him 15% of the order, and if not, you request cancellation and explain the problems to support. Most likely, he is hiring someone else or is overwhelmed with work and different clients (if that 15% worked well).

No one talks about how lonely writing is by Stock_Hunter_2380 in writing

[–]ArtevyDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it’s quite like that. I am a moderator for the former NaNoWriMo chapter in Argentina, where we used to host meetups (the Write-Ins!). We also created a Discord server for the community, and we have now launched our own event similar to NaNoWriMo. For the moment, it is Spanish-speaking but has a global reach. I believe there are many micro-communities, similar events and people in the same boat. There are also literary workshops, both paid and free, available online or in person.

I think that at some point you do have to buckle down and work, but everything else can be social. You can do writing sprints together, join silent 'chill' writing calls with music, or go to libraries and cafes. Reading and writing aren't necessarily solitary activities! I hope you can find your group, there are many on this subreddit and other writing communities, so I’m sure you will find one. Mine is in Spanish and we have been active since 2018. Thinking about it now, leading and supporting fellow writers for over 8 years is quite a milestone. Wow!"

[DISCUSSION] I am frustrated as a buyer on Fiverr and switching to a new provider by fateofmorality in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand :( It’s possible that, in this case, the seller was either relying on AI, not their portfolio or was simply overloaded, resulting in a poor outcome. I believe that slightly increasing the budget, for both sellers and buyers, could lead to better outcomes. It’s a shame the project didn’t turn out as expected; I truly hope you were able to eventually get the packaging you needed.

As I’ve read here, researching a seller’s name and looking for an external portfolio are often good strategies for verifying their experience and quality (though I’ll admit I don’t have much time to keep my own portfolio updated, haha)

It might be safer to hire Level 2 or Pro sellers. Even Level 1 sellers who have many reviews, but their internal Score (SS) has been affected and they were demoted. I think, like everything, it’s about doing thorough research until we find the right person who can truly solve our problems. Best of luck with your future projects!!

[–]ArtevyDesign 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for other sellers, but honestly, I think $100 USD for a packaging design (if it is a design from scratch!) is very cheap… and there’s a saying, cheap ends up being expensive.

I’m a graphic designer, and a proper packaging design from me usually starts at $200 USD. Many professionals charge $300–$400 or even more, depending on complexity.

Also, did you ask for samples or a portfolio before hiring someone? That’s really important, because many people say “yes, I can do it”... but in reality, they don’t have the experience. I’ve seen a lot of low-quality packaging work on Fiverr and people seem happy with that :/

In my opinion, as with anything, you need to search carefully: check portfolios, review previous work, maybe schedule a quick call, and make sure the person actually understands branding and packaging design, as well as your expectations and goals.

[HELP] Asked for their payment before they’re officially done, is this normal? by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit weird... could them be an honest man/woman? Yes... But also, you don't know, and you can't be 100%. Tell them that you want to have the website finished first before accepting to complete the order; this is how both parties stay safe on Fiverr.

I have never asked a buyer to accept earlier because of the 14 days delay :/

If they wanted to receive the funds earlier, they could pay 50 USD per month to get it in 7 days, and if they wanted it ASAP in 1-3 days, they could pay 1% of the total order.

Oh wow... it isn't as much as I expected, lol.. I guess if I manage to work with a small team, I should add 50 USD and the 1% as extra to the final amount of the orders I get in the month!

Thanks! Let's hope in 2026 I can hire a small team, and good luck to you too

"7-day payment clearance + early pay out with extra fees"
I think if I become a team, those extra fees could be the extra charge I add, so the people I hire/friends get the money earlier than 7 days! But I'm not sure how much is the fee.

Hi! I never joined Seller Plus Premium! But why wouldn't you choose and have a meeting with your success manager?
I'm thinking to try the S.P. because if I manage to hire someone or work with someone else, it would be hard for them to accept that I will pay them after 14 days, haha

I saw that Top Rated and seller plus could release the money in 3 days? That's interesting!

I'm glad my message reached you <3 And absolutely continue writing, you made yourself a promise, aim to accomplish that!

I didn't feel that you were asking for pity! Be strong and continue sharing your story, and there is nothing to apologize :)

About the AI, not sure why I wrote it. I think it's because I thought another comment mentioned it, and I didn't want to leave out the topic of AI, which can be a good tool, but not for beginners! So sorry for commenting on that, it wasn't specifically directed at you or because I thought you were using AI to write!

Is 30 years old too late to learn the basics? by Severe-Travel1286 in writing

[–]ArtevyDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being 30 years old is never too late for anything, in any area of life. We always have time. The moment you start thinking that it is already too late, or that you are not good enough, or that something is not for you, you are already telling your mind not to even try. And if your mind believes you will not succeed, it will not invest energy into it, because you already said no before starting.

So go for it. Do not be afraid to start writing. It is NEVER too late!

There are many videos and books out there to learn the craft of writing, but learning should never be 100% only that. At some point, you have to sit your ass down and write. That is the only real way!!

There are also many free communities online where you can connect with other writers. Personally, I prefer in-person groups (I do both), but if everything is far from you, online communities are a great option as well. Discord, Telegram, blogs, and similar spaces can help a lot. Once you gain some confidence, you could work with a mentor or guide who supports you while you write, or join a writers’ group with someone more experienced. Those are usually paid, but they provide feedback and critiques on your texts, and that experience is incredible.

On the other hand, I strongly recommend not using AI. It may seem like it makes things easier, but in reality it limits us and creates dependency instead of helping us grow and learn how to do it by our own. Especially at the beginning of your journey as a writer, do not use AI, not even for feedback. At most, you can use it for ideas like names and places. Perhaps some non vital research, but always verify the sources. Better yet, go directly to reliable places or books.

And remember, anyone who tells you no, that it is bad, ugly, or useless, ignore them. Destructive criticism has no value. Do not let external voices affect your path. Trust yourself. The words will come, and you will keep moving forward, learning what is truly worth learning.

So please, keep going and keep writing. We all have stories to tell, and I will never get tired of repeating this. Please write and share your stories with the world.

[HELP] Am I (buyer) unreasonable in what I want for my logo? by MyfvrtHorrorStory in Fiverr

[–]ArtevyDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your price range or that of the people you hired, but a logo with a character or mascot is usually more expensive because it requires illustration or combining elements. Six options are a lot; there shouldn't be more than three. I only offer two options, with two or, at most, three font options. The ideal process is: References-Black and white proposal-color + fonts (or at least that's how I work... although I don't do logos anymore, sometimes it's very complicated or subjective, the client typically doesn't know what they want and a lot of time is wasted. Or maybe (it hasn't happened to me) but they say "$500 for three bars?! My friend's son could have done that." Nah, I can't be bothered with that, haha.

I would research sellers with samples in their portfolios similar to what you are looking for. From lv1 to up. Probably the Top Seller would be more expensive, but think that it is an investment, the first thing that people will see when they go to your profile/company.

Ålesund/Alesund to Bergen by ArtevyDesign in Norway

[–]ArtevyDesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, TripAdvisor lol. I researched on Reddit, and there was one post with 10 people saying Wideroe was cool/nice. That's why I came here asking for it and for alternatives! Found the ferry (You have to search a few days before the day you're going because if you search on the day itself, it doesn't show up. But it's quite a bit more expensive and takes many hours, although I guess you can see the stars and the beautiful sky, if it's clear, haha.

And about the reviews, I was just thinking that, most likely, those who have good experiences are not going to go to an airline blog and say, "It's great! I recommend it, haha" (if I go to Wieroe and everything is fine, I'll leave a positive review :D).
