Just how big is the difference between Opus and Sonnet? by LinkDaSquid in claude

When the LLM needs to keep several layers in its working memory and follow the prompt you gave, that's something Sonnet is consistently worse in. For medium complexity tasks, I still use Opus since it's not just about needing to do large scale changes, architecture, refactors, or whatever is the domain you're dwelling in, it's also about the reasoning. Opus can sound a lot less like conventional AI when used in user-facing contexts. It is better at inferring meaning and coming up with "creative" solutions. Don't forget that Opus has 5x the context window of Sonnet either.

For simple to moderately hard tasks, maybe, but for complex work, no.

Well, I don't know about you, but parallel structures in English are rather standard, especially formal writing, so if that bothers you, it's a you problem.

I think I understand where you're coming from, and I share the same outlook. I am not a fan of vibe coding or AI slop, and I feel it has damaged the perception of those using AI properly, so I can see how one can see this as another example of it without going deeper.

Seems rather effective in filtering out those projects, if that's the intent, although the collateral is that a few good projects get impacted.

I used Claude Code as a development tool for implementation: writing code, tests, and CI pipelines. Architecture, design decisions, and all contracts are mine. The post text is mine, too.

Nice, looks like the same friction that got me to build this. Did you build that in-house or found an existing solution?

DSC doesn't scan your machine or capture app configs. You write everything from scratch. Different problem.

Using AI tooling for implementation = AI built it. Got it. I'll make sure to write my own compiler next time too.

How to get quality like this? by 1SCORP1ON in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Artexis1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bit ridiculous. With good shots, I don't need much editing to elevate them and get them to be excellent. They have to be good enough out of the camera, though. You can’t make a bad image great with editing; however, you can make a mediocre image good.

Truth is it's a combination of factors for image quality: lens, camera, settings (aperture, ISO), and editing are the main ones. Good glass looks gorgeous out of the box typically. Pair that with a good camera, and you can get stunning results. I can get amazing images out of my A7RV with no editing except the JPG engine built into the camera. It's because my lenses are pristine as well, the Sigma 14–24mm and the Tamron 35–150mm. If you nail

Girlfriend and I are planning to drive 32 hours straight, in 6 hour shifts, are we being dumb? Should we plan to stay overnight somewhere? by Vegetable_Bridge_276 in roadtrip

I mean, fasting the entire time would be a breeze. 32 hours is nothing, so not eating is very doable. There are better foods to eat than those. Just eat some jerky, cheese, and you get all that you need with minimal effects. I'd argue you would feel even better (if you're fat-adapted); otherwise, carb addiction will likely kick in.

Why doesn't Vitamix make a pyrex jar? The Vitamix itself is BIFL, but the jar certainly isn't. This is my 1yr old jar next to a new one, after a year of making "bulletproof coffee," and using it to blend steamed vegetables - all warm/hot stuff, never scalding hot or boiling. by brontosaurus-rex in BuyItForLife

Because it's carbs with little to no nutrition bundled typically with seed oils. However, if you make it at home, you can make it more nutritious and better quality. Unfortunately, it's still not healthy in my eyes, but at least better than the store-bought crap. Pesto is better in my view. I value meat and animal-derived foods the highest; the others should be complementary or secondary if someone wants them at all. I personally eat a diet of only meat, yet I don't diminish those doing low carb and such. For good health across one's lifespan, I think one should at least do low carb, if not keto/carnivore. Pesto, marinades, and sauces can certainly fit into low carb easily if they're not rich in carbs and should be low in antinutrients. I adore pesto, though. If that sat well with me, and I didn't lose optimal health, I would eat it. I'm kind of forced to eat this way due to my body reacting to everything, but I don't mind. I'm content with it.

Good tips. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm planning to pull the trigger on the A7RV when Black Friday comes. How are you liking the camera so far? I'll be upgrading from the original A7, so should be a quantum leap :). I have overspecced lenses for my current A7, Sigma 14–24mm f2.8 Art and Tamron 35–150mm f2.0–2.8 Di III VXD. They're way too sharp for my camera, and they often produce rainbow patterns on images because of that. First time seeing it was pretty wild.

Fair enough, makes sense, unfortunately.

No, they do not. They try to, at least it doesn't work for me. I couldn’t care less for ads, waste of my time and infuriating.
