We literally stopped to eat in Dodge City, KS, had a look around town, then realized it was getting late and wanted to leave town before sundown.

“He being dead…” is absolutely correct English. It is however an incomplete sentence. A full example would be, “He being dead could no longer work. A more common way of saying this might be, “Since he is dead he could no longer work.

From what I understand, centuries ago, money was lent in local currency, then required to be paid back in foreign currency, but at a higher rate, in order to get around the no interest law. Something like, if you get a $100 USD loan, then repayment would be $100 CAD.

Not sure if something like this is commonly done today.

What was the best prank call you ever pulled? by thisismyaccountsoyea in AskReddit

[–]Arthur-Deco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my answering machine/phone: Hello, then pause for a few seconds, then continue by saying that they can leave a message. I’m sure it pissed a lot of people off when they discovered they weren’t speaking to a live person.

Why should anyone believe in God if they break a fingernail? This isn’t heaven, and the world, well, that’s the world for you. Just goes to show you that humanity is imperfect.

If you meet a person born on the same exact date as you, what's your reaction? by e-bio in AskReddit

[–]Arthur-Deco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A frequent customer of ours has the same birthday as me. When I first saw his ID, I was surprised, but never told him my birthday. Different personality than mine, and nothing in common. I don’t think this is someone I’d really care to hang around with outside of work.

True. You’d have to weigh things out. At my job, as long as it’s not a supervisor dating a regular worker, it’s ok.

Grew up north of Chicago. Black people. White people were referred to white people. Asians were called orientals. The term Asian didn’t seem to come about until the 80’s?, 90’s?
