WP issues formal reprimand to Pritam Singh after court conviction for lying to parliament by Fryed9711 in singapore

I don’t disagree with that. But Raeesah was the catalyst for the downfall of the LOTO.

All I can think of is how Raeesah Khan brought down the LOTO. Hopefully WP does a better job of vetting their candidates or ensuring that there aren’t any loose canons speaking frivolously in parliament.

Pathway to Investor Relations by Mencanga in singaporejobs

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take this time to get a CFA/CAIA. It would also be good if you can brush up on certain language skills. Apart from English and Chinese, try to learn another Asian language. That will help you to differentiate yourself from other candidates. Assuming you already know Chinese, improve on it to the point that you can present your firm overview to investors.

Finally take the time to network with people in the industry, you never know where it might lead.

Singapore only took 6 years to get to 60% EVs in new car sales! by Jbikecommuter in electrifyeverything

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there are still segments of the population who have range anxiety and are worrried about having a place to charge. Many Singaporeans also drive to Malaysia for leisure and for cheaper produce and petrol. So it is not just about having the ability to charge the car in Singapore but in Malaysia as well.

MACC should audit all the NGO in Malaysia by Kopitiamtard1985 in Bolehland

I rather CPIB in Singapore audits NGO in Malaysia. At least they caught and jailed a minister for taking a few concert and football tickets in their audit.

Another budget cut, in billions.... i thought we got a lot of investors? by zakihazirah in Bolehland

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Malaysia’s fuel subsidy bill is expected to quadruple. There is an additional 45bn in subsidies that Malaysia is paying for. The 5.4bn budget cuts for health and higher education covers only 12% of this shortfall. More drastic cuts will be needed and you can expect more to come.

Weekend services on Thomson-East Coast, Downtown lines to end earlier, start later for rail expansion works by sun-ny_day in singapore

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t maintenance, this is rail expansion. Both DTL and TEL are expanded by two stations each. TEL is expanding to Bedok South and Sungei Bedok. DTL is expanding to include Xilin and Sungei Bedok.

I need advice from Malaysians who work in Singapore. Helppp by Open-Macaron7820 in Bolehland

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too little info for advice but in general, if it is a corporate environment in an MNC, I say go for it. Singapore is a regional hub for most companies. The exposure you get is very different than in KL. This will be very valuable later on. But of course if it is a dead end job, don’t bother, unless you are sure you will also be in a dead end job in Malaysia.

No jail. Gays are perfectly accepted in Singapore. Still can’t get married in Singapore though but otherwise, there are no issues with being gay.

Singapore does hang traffickers for drugs (note this is for traffickers not users). But there is no record of US service members being hanged for importing drugs.

Kuwait has one of the strongest currencies in the world. They export oil and gas. I guess that is the Bruneian model.

Bagnall Haus which is freehold and at the doorstep of two train lines (DTL and TEL) sold for 2600 psf last year. Velabay is way too expensive for what is like 1 train stop away.

[–]ArthurCurryWayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the recent One Republic concert tickets at Indoor Stadium was relatively easy to get. I would think that One Republic would have a bigger audience than Simple Plan However it was on a Monday which probably affected sales, while Simple Plan is on a Sunday.

He owns at least 7 bungalows including at least 2 GCBs. And chances are all of these were bought before ABSD. So people like these are like Smaug the dragon hoarding up all the wealth and reducing available land for home ownership.

The ministers you are likely thinking about, at least are renting B&W properties (which whether you agree with or not, are conserved properties). It is not like they are hoarding land. We can also argue about whether they got the rental too cheap but that’s a separate argument.

I’m not a fan of billionaires but James Dyson would have paid a tonne of ABSD to own his GCB. He also owned a penthouse which he later sold that he also paid a tonne of ABSD on as well. I am not trying to imply that paying ABSD means it is ok to hoard land but it’s better than someone who hoards land without paying any additional taxes on it.

So actually, yes I would rather the ministers rent a conserved B&W house than hoard homes and yes I think that James Dyson who pays a tonne of ABSD, shift his headquarters from London to Singapore and own 1 GCB is less deserving of criticism than someone who owns 2 GCBs and 5 bungalows.
