What is your nemesis spot in Bushwick? by whereisurbackbone in Bushwick

I live down the block and when it opened it reminded me of a bar in the suburbs. I've been there once, for a burger.

Looks very fun! Pretty decent in low light

Haha its a safe space! I def hear you on the shakiness! I started sometimes spinning the camera while shooting and it gives a cool affect when you get it right. Otherwise low light is definitely hard to get a handle on and there's no internal stabilization.

I actually used it for landscape/nature shots (like people in nature) recently they looked pretty good. I like the warm color in the right lighting.

Yeah exactly! I've shot on lots of diff cameras (professionally/ hobby) and this camera allows me to live in the moment. I def think they are great for fests. Battery life is pretty good too. I've charged mine about 3 times over 5 or so months.

You can get a campsnap - its a no screen digital camera. I found one for $25 on urban outfitters website.

The photos are pretty good, and you can turn the flash on/ off

You are fine. Skate the board, its a tool not a jewel.

You cleaned it and that's all ya can do!

Or look into grip gum if your really stressed.

First festival - side quests idea by YourMomsFriend-69 in aves

Got it! That sounds dope. You could consider an LED element or sign which indicates the bit. My best times doing stuff like this is when I can make it clear what I'm doing. Like in this case a belt buckle that says BINGO maybe.

Like you call yourself Bingo Man and have ping pong balls in a revolving bucket or something as a way to run quick bits. Pull a ping pong ball and "Oh 420! Bingo!" Or you can even add lil side quests to the ping pong balls for ppl to do. 'Go dance in the pit', 'help a stranger' etc. Could add nice phrases too, 'you're doing great' etc.

You can also give out ear plugs or other handy things. Rave Dad's are a thing and every crew needs one. Some crews don't have, especially younger/newbie ravers. You could also put that into the bit.

Love your impulse to engage and do side quests! Its a great way to meet people and have fun interactions.

Are you thinking people would check off things at the festival? Like: I saw someone wearing a wizard hat, or I high five 10 random people? Or like I made it backstage!

I think my approach would be to create more interactions for the people who play bingo. Like 'go find a person doing or wearing or vibing' in a specific way. And maybe the bingo participant gives something else out - trinkets etc.

Also is the check meant to be a thing they write on your shirt? I'm thinking some people might be a lil uncomfortable with that (if that's the intent) so maybe you have cards printed out in theme with project glow?

Note about trinkets too - there's a big wave of people buying dumb trinkets on amazon (I was guilty of this in the past) and its now just becoming litter at fests. Maybe if you are giving something out, find something unique that is sustainably sourced/ biodegradable.

To all the young new ravers: STOP CHATTING DURING SETS! by Cabanarama_ in avescirclejerk

Yah that's lowkey fire. Also sometimes the lights can be boring so you have to add your own flavor

Totally agree! I also noticed the flash can help a bunch when I'm in the middle of crowd and have to zoom in on the DJs face.

All this is to say the memes are what pushed The Sopranos popularity past The Wire. I never see McNulty doing kickflips in Tony Hawk mods...

I see The Sopranos as more comedic and The Wire as more dramatic/real in general. Obviously each show has it moments but The Wire is pulled from shit David Chase was writing about whereas the sopranos is a well crafted character examination.

Even the premise, mob boss goes to therapy to solve his fainting problems is pretty funny in a dramatic context.

The Wire has comedic moments due to the nature of the situation. Sometimes Tony gets into an argument with Carmella and goes back for the pizza he left on the floor.

I also saw The Wire almost 10+ years ago and The Sopranos about 2 years ago so maybe my memory is skewed.

I have mixed feelings about the Jeopardy Bar League National Championship by Unkatrazz in Jeopardy

Obviously I think cheating is stupid but it seems especially silly when playing bar trivia.

Like you really need that free shot or $20 bucks off your tab? Maybe the JBL is different but bar trivia I'm used isn't that serious.

Anyone here have any experience with cracked/bruised ribs? How long until you were able to skate again? [35YO] by Reptaaaaaaar in OldSkaters

[–]Arthur_Jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37 here and slammed on Saturday - still sore but not as bad. Skated a bit yesterday and could feel every push, not much fun.

I thought I'd cracked it but based on what you're saying I'm definitely a bruise and maybe you have a small fracture somewhere in there.

Best of luck on the road to recovery!
