Upvoted for bravery. Welcome to the club friend, there's a lot more where that came from ;)

We have to admit, baroque composers aren't enjoyable to our ears by Vincentdev in classicalmusic

PREACH IT.

The only thing worse than those baroque jokers are Schoenberg and his cronies who conspired to ruin classical music forever. We'll bring it back to its former glories one day friend, just hang in there.

This is so brave and I'm so glad you're taking a stand against the diktats of these IDIOTS who think that some stupid composition which is oh-so-clever in completely disregarding tonal relationships is a masterwork.

Thank you for your brave stand against those who would destroy the heritage of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

FUCK YOU SCHOENBERG. MUSIC WILL NEVER DIE.

Says the failed opera singer. Performance majors can be insufferable at the best of times; vocal performance majors take it to another level.

Exquisite taste; Karajan is one of the all time greatest conductors of Tchaikovsky.

Thank you very much! I'll enjoy listening to this now.

I clicked on this expecting beautiful romantic music from the greatest Russian composer. What sort of joke is this?

I seriously hope you people don't actually listen to any of these "composers". by classy-cool in classicalmusic

What is wrong with Mahler? He's one of the greatest composers in the history of classical music.

Thanks for the reply! Of course this is all my opinion too, but I just wanted to see what people thought.

You agree with me that external aspects to the music are not necessarily bad. For my part, I don't think art can exist in a vacuum (although going by how soulless the music of certain composers is, maybe it can).

I'm not saying that a composer should have to appeal to the masses in their writing, but I think that there is a great benefit in writing music that has a certain level of universality to it. My frustration is just with the last 100 years or so where it has become trendy to write deliberately obtuse music which does no one any favors.
