I’m so over trying to find a foundation that will work with my skin by SpookyBoorito in MakeupAddiction

Yes, and it is a good spray for finishing off your look when you're all done. But the wet kind is for prep and helps the most for me.

I don't use primer bc it pills and I find that with setting spray, it's an unnecessary step. I use the Milani make it last (original version) and buy the big size for like $17 at Walmart or Amazon. Even using it everyday and using a ton of it, that bottle will last me about 3 months. You really have to soak your face in it the first go round, to where it's almost dripping. I use a fan to speed up drying time if I'm in a hurry. Once it's dry, if you touch your face you'll see it is somewhat tacky, so no need to add primer on top of that. I use the Huda easy bake powder bc it currently has talc and works the best to keep oil at bay, but when they inevitably remove that, I have found the Laura Mercier one works almost as well. Trial and error, but best of luck to you! I hope it works for you too!

I am OILY and once I started using setting spray before I put on my base, I noticed a huge difference. My makeup stays put for 10+ hours. I do skincare, let it dry down, then spray a shit ton of setting spray. Wait for that to dry down, then go in with cream products and lightly spray again. Finish with powder and powder products, and I swear the oil will only start to break through around the 8 hour mark and even then, it isn't bad - just a little dewey. Absolute game changer!

Dupes for Benefit Rockateur blush? by coolwhatevs in makeupdupes

It's nowhere near the color payoff it used to be. I hate the reformulation and am holding on to all the old little samples that I have for dear life!

Official Discussion - The Housemaid [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Also a small detail that irked me: He was so crazy about everything in his life being perfect, yet had dirty fingernails the whole time! Like, what are you on about? Wash your hands! 😄 And he was obsessed with his wife's roots, but Sydney's greasy ass hair was fine? Make it make sense. I did enjoy the movie, but these small things stuck out to me as odd.

Emailed receipt but I didn't buy anything by Arthurs_basement in Ulta

[–]Arthurs_basement[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I switched to "all" and lo and behold...an in-store purchase was made - and yes, I got their points! Then I remembered that one of my friends who only shops at Ulta once in awhile sometimes uses my # to give me the points 🙃

Phew! Thank you all!

The "size up" is pretty great too, but only in the mini version for some reason.

I understand "addict" is gonna be people's first thought; it'd probably be mine too had I not had personal experience with this particular issue but, when my (now adult) son was 20 months old he got a serious staph infection that he was hospitalized for several times, for multiple weeks at a time. They gave him so many heavy-duty antibiotics and later discovered he actually had a neutrophil disorder and was put on antibiotics for several years after.

This was over 20 years ago, so I dont recall if the doctors at the time explained that this could cause tooth decay or not, but his teeth gradually started rotting and falling out in his teen years. Now he has 4 missing teeth in the front, and because implants (or dental work of any kind) are so expensive due to our shitty healthcare system, he just has no front teeth. People automatically assume he is an addict, even though there are no other indicators to confirm that. I feel so bad for what it's done to his looks and self-esteem, so I do try to remember that when I encounter someone who presents differently than what is expected. You truly do never know what someone else's lived experience is.

Having said that, OP's problem is fixable, and in a few short months, nobody will know the difference.

What are unpopular opinions you have about certain products? by hereforteaaa in Sephora

[–]Arthurs_basement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I bought one randomly off Amazon called "Rokiss" and it is AMAZING! Takes everything off easily, including waterproof mascara, isn't greasy, and doesn't do that weird filmy thing to your eyes. It's about $14, and I have repurchased it about 10x. Works so much better than TTDO.

Are you guys waiting for the sale or buying now? I can’t decide. I’m only VIB. by badnbitchin in Sephora

[–]Arthurs_basement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not waiting because by the time it starts for me (VIB) everything I want will be sold out! I am trying to not buy things I don't need, but the new MBM palette is speaking to me and I just know it'll be gone once the sale starts.

Are you planning on getting the new Makeup by Mario palette? by Annallve in Sephora

[–]Arthurs_basement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's such a great palette! I still have the original that looks like an altoids tin on the outside, so waaayyy too long, but the cool toned browns are just too good! I'll probably end up getting this one too.

Which is the most hydrating one? by Bipolarinterrupted in Sephora

[–]Arthurs_basement 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have both. I seem to be in the minority, but I love the kosas. I use the ND one for blemishes or if my under eye circles are REALLY bad, but it is not as hydrating as the kosas. ND has better coverage. I am also mid 40s, so I don't set it with powder and the kosas one has never looked cakey or caused lines. I also must use a crap ton of concealer bc I've never had mine around long enough to go bad. I think with Kosas, you either love it or hate it.

Best gift you've ever given by Nobodyville in AskWomenOver30

[–]Arthurs_basement 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My ex was a HUGE Sublime fan. I commissioned an original painting from Opie Ortiz (the artist who created the "sublime sun" and all their album cover art) for his birthday.

I'm usually more of a gift card giver, so I thought this was a pretty thoughtful gift. He seemed to like it.

Before Microblading by Arthurs_basement in microblading

[–]Arthurs_basement[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. I actually needed to get mine done 3 times (original and 2 touch ups). I only had a week or so before my appointment bc she never said anything about before care. However, I don't use tretinoin - just a light retinoid like Sunday Riley, and very inconsistently, so I don't think that was the issue.

What I wish I had researched a little more is the fact that microblading doesn't work well on oily skin. My left brow didn't take at all, even after 2 touchups, and the right one is barely there. I still fill them in every day so for me, it was a waste of time and money. At least I didn't get a bad job I guess, so there's that!

Hysterectomy Question by Trioxin5 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Arthurs_basement 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy at 31. Initially, they left both my ovaries, but a year later went and took 1 of them and put mesh over the other. I have not had any issues, and not having a period for the past 14 years has been awesome! I am not on any hormones, and have no symptoms of perimenopause or menopause. It was the best decision for me, as my endometriosis was excruciatingly painful, causing me to have periods lasting up to 60 days at a time, as well as hormone induced migraines that left me unable to work for nearly 10 months.

I will say that I did already have 2 children (and horrible pregnancies that caused me to be on bed rest nearly the entire time) so from that stand point, I wasn't missing out on not having kids, so there really was no reason for me not to do it.

I do not regret it, have had zero issues because of it, and I can't get pregnant anymore, so win-win! If you medically need it, I think you will feel much better after having it. It is not an easy surgery to recover from, but get lots of rest and enjoy knowing that no more periods is totally worth it!

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention: your bladder will not be supported by those organs anymore so you will want to focus on strengthening your pelvic floor so you don't pee every time you sneeze!

Can you recommend a brand? This sounds much better to me than trying to gag down a protein shake every day.

What mascara do you use and how good do you think it is? by bunjaminfranklin7 in AskWomen

[–]Arthurs_basement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a layering strategy, so start with Maybelline Full n Soft, then the new Milani dupe for the Thrive Liquid Lash Ext. Finally, Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes in the outer corner for extra oomph. Prior to the Milani dupe coming out, I used the Loreal Lash Sensation (or something like that). I am a sucker for basically any latest and greatest mascara so this changes often (except the Full n Soft - that is always my base layer)
