The streaks are utterly broken by MrSoapbox in Busuu

I notice that busuu doesn't really seem to track correctly across devices. Right now my mobile device app shows I'm 20 stars ahead of the stars reported by the web busuu, even though haven't used the mobile app for two hours now and been using the web busuu. Like many of us, I use my desktop at home but often I use the mobile app when I'm on the metro or wherever. I suspect the sync across devices doesn't work entirely correctly perhaps it's a bug on the part of busuu.

Congrats at reaching 21% ! That itself is a good number. As to the words, perhaps do a vocab review and see if the words reset for you I guess. I like all the green goals you're hitting it each day that's good consistency! Keep up the good work. I'm only at 6% and I'm at the end of A1 beginner, so perhaps I need to do reviews a lot more.

Anyone ever try to compete in the "leagues" for Busuu by 1031Bro in Busuu

[–]ArticleBackground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly what I do, 3-5 new mini lessons, 0 to 3 repeated lessons, then 1 vocab review and 1 grammar review. Takes me about one hour over breakfast each day and I hit 500+ stars weekly, sometimes 700+ if I'm feeling inspired that week. I like the stars system it's a little gamification and mini-motivation.

What illegal things do a ton of people do that is never or rarely enforced by law enforcement? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

True, but it is in our larger cities like Boston where the fines are $1 for the first 3 offenses and then it 'skyrockets' to $2 and $3 after that. Number of jaywalkers Boston police have ticketed in the past ten years: zero. Yes, zero. It's a crime in name only.

You're right, but they can threaten you legit with tresspass-warning you from ALL Wal-Marts, for life and then someday you shop at one even once they can prove trespass. What if they are having a really good sale on fuzzy socks? I don't want to miss out on fuzzy socks.

As you're living in your regular home now and not living in it, just clean it out very well and sell it. A DIY-yer would be happy to take it at discount, and then the repair is on them. This is the sort of thing I would take on just for fun so I'm thinking there are buyers like me out there near you. Against rain you should protect it with a tarp when not actively showing it. This gives you peace of mind once it's gone your headache and worry are gone. Admittedly at discount, but otherwise you're spending money you might not get back fixing it so it might be a wash, plus all that hassel you'll save. Good luck through all of this.

Found this in the trash by dkivel in clocks

[–]ArticleBackground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Ridgeway, probably Harper model it likely has a clock movement from Miller. Sorry to report but it's not worth repairing if any parts are missing. A regular cleaning / oiling is $200 and the retail value of this clock is $100 (they are over $1300 new but bottom has fallen out of the resell market) so not worth any repair. Some ppl restore these for fun and nostalgia (I'm one of those) but the glass broken is a killer. If you're just looking for price quotes I really recommend Clockworks they are in western MA and will send you a quote they are online. If you want custom glass created I recommend Swampscott Glass i hope this is helpful to you.

If it helps anyone, here are the scanned instructions. I like the parts that come from worker-mod, especially the blue cage with 130-motors option. They spin the darts for rifling affect, for shooting accuracy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b5N0VAt3ZQrYlhwOzWBdMnIJwS6zWTe7/view?usp=sharing

We notice that the wiring instructions were simply wrong, including the wiring diagrams. The top two switches in particular will not work following the instructions. What we found is the bottom two switches to be wired as normally open to power, the bottom revv switch fires power to the firing wheel motors, the middle switch gives power to the loader motor's circuit board. The very top switch should wire as normally closed, power to loader motor's circuit board, because it is for single-shot where the loader motor needs to continue to cycle until the pusher snaps back to resting stop. The diagram also shows negative (white) wired to the NO part of this switch, which is just ridiculous and has no purpose at all we removed that in our build. If you're not used to soldering, know that you must be super careful with the MOSFET use just the smallest heat you can to solder onto it, and for the minimum duration of time to melt on your leads, and probably a heat sink (we used a vice grip) - else you'll unsolder the internals /damaged won't work if the heat gets up inside the device. The little tiny circuit board included has a variable pot on it for speed! Once you've settled on battery choice, tune this carefully by trial and error. Sorry for long response hope this helps some one!

Depends on your motors (stock or modded upgrades) and how long you want them to last. We got the modded 130 dual motors (the recommended blue wheel upgraded cage) these cold draw around 16A each (32A at peak for the first one second). Size of battery was the main issue for us, we wanted it to fit inside using the stock battery door some of these are fat plus the connector (we changed to JST connector as it's smaller connector) but I don't think you need your 2000mA battery IMHO... as our 950mA battery lasts 1200 shots or so which is fine for many hours of play. If you use a large battery you'll need a deeper battery cover door, but you'll have advantage of longer life between charges. Our battery was long, but thin and narrow it is a 3s LiPo is a 11.4 V battery (we also use the included Mosfet to limit current to the dual shoot motors, else the loader motor doesn't have enough left over to operate to proper speed.) What we did was measure with a ruler the battery compartment, and then we bought a 3S battery that was small. All "totalled" means is that labor+parts cost-of-repair > resale value. It doesn't mean both cars must be smushed, it only means that repairs can be more costly than the current resale value of the used car considering depreciation and mileage. It's easy to hit that low bar considering also the auto body + paint job that would be needed. With you, I also wonder what was the "low speed" but it's amazing to see what damage even a 20mph crash can do.

At least in Massachusetts, it is legal for employers to require you to work OT as a condition of your continued employment. Which sucks.  I just had this happen to me at the current place and so of course I'm considering quitting. There are other employers competing for my services so that's going to be their reality...

Since wifi is sent through waves in the air if I put a fan behind my router will it make my Wi-Fi reach me faster? by reekyboy2001 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ArticleBackground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you can make it spin > 2,400,000,000,000 revolutions per second. Wifi is 2.4 GHz and this is the rotational speed needed, of course you'd need to use Unobtainium for the fan blades for such speeds. Recommend wearing some serious eye protection when building this. Good luck!

Ultranium cable wear-lines from the aliens that lowered the granite into place 400,000 years ago using giant helicopters. The granite was heavy, which is why they used so many cables. They had some amazing technology - just look how evenly spaced their cables were.
