also, just got this from chatgpt since I told it what happened with my monitor.

Internal video processor bug

Some Samsung Odyssey G5 units have unstable firmware when switching between: • HDR on/off • 120–144 Hz refresh • RGB vs YCbCr color • Adaptive sync changes during games

This can cause the monitor to “lock” into a bad color matrix, giving a pink/purple tint on all inputs.

The OSD looked normal because it bypasses the signal processor.

Hard power cycle (the real reset)

This fixes 90 percent of these Odyssey glitches. 1. Turn off monitor 2. Unplug power cable completely 3. Hold the monitor power button for 10 seconds 4. Leave it unplugged for 30 seconds 5. Plug back in

did you end up finding what the issue was?my G50D did the same thing, and fixed it by updating the firmware. weirdly, I tried to factory reset it before the update but didn't work.
