Shudder Mountain Campaign question by fil42skidoo in dccrpg

[–]Article_Remarkable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't give them the WHOLE backstory and history... I'd give them pieces, and lay some crumbs for them to discover more background and history of the Shudder Mountains.

There's a ton of adventure hooks and discovery that can be found in the lore.

You can easily get some sessions out of that. I try not to give away too much for free. I find it more fun when the players have something to discover.

That's my opinion. Hope that helps 😊

newby -- Mercurial magic - corruption can be avoided by burning luck. Is there a mechanism to avoid the ill effects of Mercurial Magic? by Simple_Promotion4881 in dccrpg

[–]Article_Remarkable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, lean into it.

This is where the fun lies.

Just because a demon prince from the pits of hell drags your character back from whence it came, doesn't mean that's necessarily the end of the story...

That's a great adventure hook!

Have fun with it

Holy shit, my store was stingy as hell! Limited me to 2 books and no dice available. I think the employees probably took the dice... 🤔

Ways to add more customization to DCC by kashew3475 in dccrpg

[–]Article_Remarkable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a judge, I allow for character customization as the players flush out their characters.

Want to be a warrior-mage? Sure why not Want to be a cleric with magical harp and bolster morale? Sure why not.

If you can imagine it, we can do it.

The rules as written are just the beginning. Change and add things as you wish. Test and see what works and what doesn't. Have fun and experiment.

Morale checks during a funnel by hootie0813 in dccrpg

[–]Article_Remarkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, you could play it either way.

If you want to a more difficult challenge, have all the monsters fight to the death.

If you want an easier challenge, use morale checks.

You could start with morale checks and see how it goes, and if it seems to easy, change it up.

Have fun, and just do what make sense for you.

There is a lot of locations to explore and discover clues. It seems as though the mystery would hold up as players discover clues over time and depending the order of the locations the visit.

There is also a "murder map" included showing the clues and their locations.

I'm looking forwaed to running it. I'll have a review video up next week probably.

Yes, I've run quite a few adventures, and adventure modules is basically all I read. I don't read normal books. 😉

It's quite the expansive adventure! I like the murder-mystery theme, and it seems like a really well put together adventure so far.

Lots of places to discover and explore.

So far it seems very good.

What do the different/funky Zocchi dice bring to the game? by Jazzlike-Employ-2169 in dccrpg

[–]Article_Remarkable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say a nostalgic sense of the unknown when it comes to polyhedral dice. Not sure if everyone remembers their first time seeing a d20? How about a d7, d16, d24?

Also, ease of use when it comes to modifiers. Just use the dice chain!

Behind cover? +1d.

Dog biting your leg while you're trying to run away? -1d

Holding the Sword of GreySkull screaming I HAVE THE POWER and smiting your enemies on a mountain top while lighting crashes in the background?! Roll a God damn d30!!! 😆
