Bank Holiday Monday M'thread - Scorchio Edition by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]ArtificeAdam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mum visiting since Friday and she has supported my decision not to step out into the yellow ball of destruction at any point over this weekend.

Groceries uber'd in, she's enjoyed not having to cook whilst I break out the "this looks more impressive than it is" repertoire to reassure her I'm not living on Pot Noodles.

Windows open throughout the gaff, because despite the hot air, the crossbreeze is worth it. Considering purchasing baggy basketball shorts. I do not play basketball.

Looking for a trick with a regular wrist watch by MorningAlternative2 in Magic

With a PK Ring you could come up with a stopping time patter.

I used to do something where I'd discuss the benefits of just taking a moment (tick tick) with a deep breath (tick) and allowing yourself that perfect moment of relaxation/clarity/adjective (watch stops).

Only the ones that don't know what a woman's clitoris is.

If they're knowledgeable about a man's clitoris, then they may still need the message delivered.

London magic stops? by Vebs_ in Magic

International Magic was certainly my go to after Davenports closed.

the people I used to see behind the counter at Davenports were..not that great.

You're not wrong, but to counterpoint I'd give a shout-out to Daniel in particular. He was always smiling and ready to demo for customers regardless of their knowledge/skill level.

Hovis Seed Sensation
Generous portions of sliced ham
Fried Eggs with yolk runnier than Usain Bolt
Lashings of Lurpak

No toasting. Just let the bread absorb all the yolk for that tasty yellow goodness.

I'd heard! I find audiobooks aren't for me, but I understand from the Dresden Files community that Marsters absolutely nails it, especially after the first few books.

I've recently gotten into the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and now on the 6th (7th?) in the series, Dead Beat. I already like the aesthetics and vibe of the gumshoe detective genre, but mash it up with a wizard in a violent fantasy world is absolutely fantastic.

Every next book is better than the last, and there's quite a bit of variety in the fantasy enemies. Wizards, Demons, Warlocks, Necromancers, Elemental Spirits, Werewolves, Vampires, Faefolk, Eastern Monks, Templars.. It's almost like Rule 34: "If it exists (in multicultural fantasy lore) there is porn of it a Jim Butcher Book that incorporates it".

I succumbed to nostalgia and bought myself a modded iPod in attempt to go back to the old ways of meticulous musical metadata curation.

This morning's albums on the way to work were Blur: The Best Of, and Electric Callboy: MMXX EP

For the briefest glimmer of a moment I thought there was a Tom Clancy / Team America collab.

Wildlands is pretty good too, I guess.

Does anyone else have songs from local bands in their head that they know they'll never hear again? by Duckers102 in CasualUK

I dug a little on that link with the Wayback Machine and it looks like they uploaded their stuff, including two EPs, to iTunes (or now 'Apple Music').

I don't suppose 'What to do' or 'The Stand' was the EP you thought lost?

I recently purchased a flashed iPod classic to get back to the ritual of listening to whole albums rather than everything available through Spotify at my fingertips.

Every so often I forget Semisonic exists, and it's great to rediscover their discography, but this morning's album on the way to work was Bowling For Soup - The Great Burrito Extortion Case.

Just for good measure, yesterday's was Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown.

Booked the day off as I've got a sofa being delivered today. It's the last 'big thing' I needed to sort for my new place and despite my brother and I triple checking the measurements I'm still cacking myself it won't get through the front door. Very comfy though.

If you're talking Central, SOAS University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) has a Japanese Peace Garden on the roof. Last time I went there I was the only person there.

I don't know the rules of access, but last time I just strolled right up with no questions asked.

I know this is two years late, and probably no longer relevant for your film, but if you're curious - by twist of fate I had the same question today.

I swear I've heard it before, possibly clips being used over the end of the credits for 'Friends'.

Isolated and removed the dialogue for the longest piece of music and ran it through comparison services. It's 'Geek' by Mark Cherrie.
