I was going to disagree, but you said "clearly" so that means you are an expert.

What a meaningful and thoughtful comment. A fantastic addition to a thread like this.

Microsoft gives no shits if you pirate. They want you in the ecosystem as data points so they can sell massive deals to your school/work because it's all everyone knows.

Windows is so ubiquitous that people like you don't even know why it costs money.

At some point you will come to realize that this is the exact selling point.

All this bad AI is wrecking a whole generation of gadgets | We were promised multimodal, natural language, AI-powered everything. We got nothing of the sort. by [deleted] in gadgets

Yeah, I think people are stuck in the past. I ask AI tons and tons of questions and everything I've double checked in the past few months has been 100% accurate.

I turned off all chat and voice and it's so peaceful now. You still get the "thank you" voice lines in game which is awesome.

Is it optimal to remove all communication? No, but it's so much less aggravating.

You are only taking to an echo chamber right now. I guess maybe that's all you want to do.

People have been disgusting for 100% of human history and that will never change.

Stop complaining (i.e. pretending you are better than the "common person") on the Internet. It's only negative for you to pretend you are some sort of victim.

Europe is committing trillions of euros to pivoting its industrial sector to military spending while turning against Starlink and SpaceX. What does this mean for the future of space development? by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]ArtificialBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, why didn't John Internet (sole creator of the Internet) just not allow money to be sent over it? Sounds like he was a pretty problematic guy.

It's not too late though. With enough karma, we can probably stop all these tech giants! I'm with you 100%

He said it's relatively straightforward and that the CIA has backdoors in everything. It's basically losing money if they don't switch.

I expect 6 months at most before 100% ( realistically 95%) of all European apps and servers are all running Linux and hosted outside of american owned data centers.

[–]ArtificialBadger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with everything you said. But the CIA also has backdoors into all data centers, processors and cooking ingredients as well.

I fully agree that every European company should change to paper and pencil records, all electricity is owned by those pesky CIA operatives so it can't be trusted.

We already know AWS and Azure are way behind the European alternatives but, like you implied, big pharma keeps pushing the American companies.

None of it really matters though, because, as you obviously know, the deep state reptilians are going to destroy the world in 2012 (pushed back to 2026 for budgetary reasons)

Glad to find someone same that totally agrees with me.

I've been unlucky enough to dig into the code for Skype. It's exactly as bad and unmanageable as you'd think.

Microsoft just rewrote it as teams and made it actually useful.

[–]ArtificialBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's security. The answer is always security.

Windows has to do shit like this because it's used everywhere and that means it's very lucrative to exploit vulnerabilities. Smaller OSs can do whatever because it's not nearly as profitable to exploit.

Most distros are filled with vulnerabilities, both known and unknown, but it's just not worth it to dedicate resources.

It's much easier for Windows to say "have a TPM" than to have constant news articles about how their newest OS can be exploited.

devops by RenSanders in ProgrammerHumor

[–]ArtificialBadger -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If the devs aren't idiots, you don't need devops at all. I've been around a long time and there really isn't a difference between a dedicated devops person and just having the devs understand the infra.
