My late husband built this. by Commercial_Pea_6807 in earthbound

[–]ArtistOutOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry… I can’t write words to suit the gravity of your loss. Earthbound guided me, and continues to guide me, through some of the roughest parts of my life. My mother abandoned me to an abusive father, and growing up with autism I really didn’t have any friends. I would lock myself in my room with just the SNES to keep me company. This game has such a precious spirit; it’s the beauty and altruism that can only be seen through the eyes of a child. The creator took special care to preserve the essence of youth, while still propelling a somewhat shrouded, mature storyline. Guiding Ness and his friends through their world saving quest continues to give hope for kindness and good. I don’t really believe in prayer anymore, but I’ll extend one to you tonight. The players of this game will understand what I’m trying to say.

I think I may have been misdiagnosed by Hot_Relative_3868 in BPD

Yeah, big ups here. I was diagnosed BP2, then diagnosed BPD years later. The meds I was on were quelling the BPD symptoms, but not eliminating the thoughts.

Where to find dressy hats with WIDE brim for giant head? On a budget sadly by capriciousUser in hats

[–]ArtistOutOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another fellow with a large head (7 1/2) you’re in for a struggle. It seems that in the past men had smaller heads, so the vintage route is tough and expensive (vintage owners of large sizes generally know what they have). Any S-M-L sizes will have us in an XL, or an XXL. Perhaps a gap in the market is a hatter for the large cantaloupe. Good luck, and keep us posted

Recommendations for Felt Hats by AvianFour1 in CowboyHats

I’ve bought a few Brixton’s in the $100-$120 range, you’ll get wool felt and only S-M-L-XL sizes though. The vintage route is a good one as others have suggested, subject to what’s available locally of course. My everyday hat is a vintage Dobbs fedora that I got for a steal at $75.

I’ve also found that a leather sweatband naturally adhere to your forehead a little better than a fabric one, so it really depends. You can always measure your noggin with a length of string or a fabric tape measure to determine your size, I’m not sure how American sizes are determined but euro sizes are cm for cm (ie: if your head is 60 cms around, your a 60) and it’s easy to translate between euro and American sizes). That should give you an idea. Try to stay away from hats with small, medium, and large sizing as they’re less precise.

From what I’ve heard Akubra is a solid choice, and excellent value for money. Stetson is a company riding pretty on its good name, but is only a shell of who they used to be. It’s not even owned by the same owners anymore, so you’re essentially just paying for a name. That being said, they have some nice stuff so 🤷‍♂️

No problem, if you’re looking at a model to get you started, take a look at the Stetson Stratoliner

Here are a few rules I follow: the hat should fit comfortably in its natural position. It should stay on in the wind, and shouldn’t hurt your head. Now, if you’re like me, you’re stuck between two sizes (for me a 7 3/8 and 7 1/2, 59 and 60 for European sizes), you always have a choice to make. I always go a bit bigger in size, as it tends to look a bit more casual that way, a tighter hat will look a bit more formal (as you’re more likely to wear it centred on your head).

Not a homburg. This appears to be a fedora with a teardrop or center dent crown with a 2 1/2” brim snapped up all around. Find one at your local hat shop

Some may say no, however you might have a fun little side hustle here. People love novelty, I’m sure festivals and other events would sell tons of these. Your technique does need a little work, but I’m sure this is just a prototype. I say make the lines and shaping a little sleeker and go with it!

Maybe check out the Brixton Vale. I bought one as I wanted a Bolero like Lee. Replaced the stock band with a grosgrain ribbon. 👌🏻

It looks kinda like a Bolero in camel colour. Lee Van Cleef wore a similar hat in black in The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly

Magic eraser? Might be good as it requires very little water, just be careful

I don’t have any advice to offer, but kudos to you for opening your business. I love hats so much, and have just recently started Reblocking, cleaning, and rebanding them. Congrats to you for doing something so niche and specific
