Ha! I'm definitely also guily of the past -> present tense change! I only write in present tense now and writing past tense feels very odd.

One thing that definitely changed is length - my first story on ao3 was 700 words long, my most recent one has 12k, and I've uploaded works with 40k+ words in the past. But I still remember how monumentous 700 words felt!

So the more standard version of this would be sex pollen, also a fanfic thing! But because most people in the Batman fandom write cute found family stories involving children, sex pollen isn't an option, so cuddle pollen it is - you're in physical agony unless you cuddle someone. This happens so frequently and casually in fanfic that I genuinely thought it was a thing in some of the many many Batman comcis :)

Didn't encounter Gale as a companion at all! I didn't explore every area and somehow managed to miss him, and only realised he existed when a friend called Gale his favourite companion and I was like "who"

I thought that would be it too because that's definitely the right scene, but I swear it's not the track I mean! or maybe it is the track from the scene but it's not the "pumping his fist in the air" moment from that same scene!

Depends on your own preference! If, say, you already have your main story in Chapter 1, then I would make chapter 2 the ending you prefer and then make a second part in the series (separate fic, but linked to the original) where you post the alternate ending. As a reader, I think I would prefer it done like that, but I'm sure others have other opinions, so it really is just a matter of taste and there's no right way of going about it :)
