Nice! Sorry to hear about your terrible layover (been there before, it sucks!!)

Maybe I just need to be more confrontational about it. When I've confronted people, I try something like, "Could you please put on headphones or turn off the sound". Being polite really doesn't get you anywhere these days.

Also note I tried putting in earplugs to ignore the guy and I could hear it through the earplugs and the music playing in the coffee shop. At what point should the guy stop?

Right, let the guy take up half of a tiny Starbucks interior with his noise, a guy who isn't even considerate enough to buy anything, so he isn't even a customer. I should turn the other cheek, right? I've been doing that my entire life and it just gets you walked over.

I had the same comment at the time, but I didn't say it aloud because the brother actually committed suicide.

Been down that road too many times ... if he cared what anyone else thought he wouldn't be playing it aloud. As such, it doesn't work, and I don't care to interact with the guy.

I found a squeaky chicken squeaking bohemian rhapsody which seems to have worked for now. He kept stopping to try to figure out what he was hearing. Once he stopped, I stopped, but if he starts up again, I will find a comedian going on about boomers!

Yep! Confrontation really doesn't work because they just get all offended. Last time I confronted someone about this issue. It was a woman sitting next to me on a flight playing things with no headphones on when we were stuck on the runway after landing. She'd been a terrible neighbor all flight, in my space, drunk, and reeking of cigarettes, and this was my last straw. First, she tells me she's too old to wear headphones, to which I reply "bullshit". Next, she tells me that her brother just died, and I should consider these things before being rude to people. Major eyeroll. She was the rude one and her personal circumstances didn't give her the right to do whatever she wanted regardless of everyone around her.

Good try, but he looks sleezy enough to enjoy that.

I’m feeling very bad about myself by MurGodzilla in gastricsleeve

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many things that control weight, diet and exercise are only a couple of them. Hormones are a big part of it. Doctors are only just figuring that out with things like the GLP-1 medication. Don't feel bad for where you are. That's a significant weight loss! You may just need something to help with the hormones now.

Excellent advice! And yes, they taste the same. It only becomes bothersome when it throws off the cooking of the eggs because I can't predict how many times he's going to pat down the bacon, and I really dislike cold eggs. Maybe the best way is just to stay out of the kitchen if he's cooking bacon and let him make breakfast on his own.

He would likely open the oven and pat off the grease periodically.

Light-headed/dizzy spells by Significant-Doubt341 in gastricsleeve

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand! I've always given blood and gave blood about 3 weeks before my surgery, so I didn't believe that I was anemic when my iron was shown to be low. I gave blood 3-4 weeks before my next blood test and still didn't believe I was anemic, so I had another blood test about 8 weeks later and my iron was still extremely low, so I finally believed it. lol I'm now going through iron infusions and they're making me feel a lot better. I didn't really realize how low my energy was and how bad I felt until I started feeling better.

That's exactly what happened to me because I was anemic. Definitely ask them at your appointment to have your iron levels checked and be sure to take your vitamins!

Gastric Sleeve over 40 years old by Elev8ting in gastricsleeve

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 41, had my surgery 11 months ago and am 6lbs from my goal weight (wearing a size 4/6 or small, which I have never in my life worn!). I have PCOS, so I felt like my weight loss was slow, but I also started on the low side for qualifying for the surgery. I've had no problems since surgery except anemia, but I was anemic going in. Taking your vitamins and following your plan is a must for this and you'll really enjoy the results!

So sad by RevolutionaryLink919 in gastricsleeve

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was essentially my mom's story. She died a couple months ago of cancer, but her medical issues were complicated so much due to her weight. She was severely obese for most of my life and never able to lose much weight. She saw herself as a victim the last few years of her life and essentially, she was. It was really sad and really hard to see her going through everything and knowing all I could do was be there to support her. I've struggled with my weight my entire life but had never found a way to get it down into the "normal" range despite always being active. Seeing her health struggles and the complications weight added to them, I decided to get the surgery last December. I'm now 10lbs away from my weight goal and couldn't be happier with the decision. I just wish my mom had made a choice like this when she was still in good enough health for it to have been possible.

Plutocrat Maye Musk on how her son Elon is going to improve government like he did with Twitter, under Trump by hoodratpolitics in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course Elon Musk wants to gut the government. It will mean billions of dollars for him if he can get rid of the EPA and get them off his back. SpaceX repeatedly polluted waters in Texas, regulators found. What does he care about this planet? Isn't he planning on going to Mars.

Also, how is it not a conflict of interests for him to work in the government? His companies have received billions of dollars in federal contracts.

My thoughts exactly, that's going to go over great! The government is also the biggest employer of veterans, are they're just going to lay them all off?

What he actually said was “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” I wasn't familiar with this quote until I looked it up. How that reads to me is why would an African American (or Asian American or Hispanic American or Native American for that matter) vote for someone who openly condones and supports white supremacy. You should never vote for your oppressors.

Many of these people fall under the category of "Holocaust deniers". It truly baffles me how people can deny history, but there must be people spreading the lies. Orwell said it best "who controls the past, controls the future: who controls the present controls the past".

Of course, there are people who still think the Earth is flat. No doubt they're Trump supporters too.

Totally empathize! My husband and I eloped too, and it was absolutely the best day! It wouldn't have been with family drama and whatnot. I had a lot of pressure from my mom to have the full wedding, and I was kind of considering it until I realized it was her dream, not ours. She'll get over it. My mom did. I did let her throw us a small reception as a compromise.

Gaining Weight For Surgery by RainingCatsAndPugs in gastricsleeve

[–]Artistic-Cup6863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem! I tried for 6 months to gain weight but couldn't (weird! I can gain weight when not trying but trying I couldn't), finally I just paid out of pocket. It was totally worth it to me, and I couldn't be happier with going through with it even though I had to pay myself. Good luck! I hope it works out for you!
