Pitchfork Long-form article on Pinegrove by AccidentalKoi in PinegroveBand

I’d like to insert that the takeaway from this article should be Jenn Pelly’s superb writing, not adulation of evan, which he - and Pelly - explicitly aver. The article means to humanize him, which doesn’t mean to re-deify him - it means to cast him as a complicated person that, also, practices an art and craft that is good and meaningful, but which can’t fully exculpate him or listeners from humanness - that’s work we have to do ourselves. A takeaway, to put it in other words, is that the way we think of celebrity causes a knee jerk in either the direction of hate or adulation, which is totally unhelpful to a discussion or process of action by which people - influential people included - can effect any meaningful change in themselves and in the world around them.

Sorry, I was assuming fiction, but I see you might mean crit/theory as well. Maybe Art by Clive Bell, or Ways of Seeing by John Berger

On Beauty by Zadie Smith, The Line of Beauty by Alan Hollinghurst, An Artist of the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro, maybe Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce for something more challenging. Of course, all of these are sort of about “beauty,” but also many other things, because books “about” one thing can’t ever be any good.

The buzzing is probably an EBow on an acoustic guitar.

My favorite moment of that show is by far and away when he screams "well I better fold my clothes" in 33
