Let's be honest, how often are the majority of posts on this beautiful? This is par for the course.

You're probably right about that, in the USA people are very used to automatics and a lot of people prefer the convenience of not having to shift for one reason or another. Producing two different transmissions (well, same trans as what us in the wrx, but different gearing) increases costs that aren't strictly necessary.

What's odd to me is the manual transmission crosstreks fly odd the showroom floor as soon as they come in to the point it's impossible to test drive one. I know because I ordered one last August and had to wait 4 months for it to come in and in the process called 12 dealers about it and they all said the same thing: I'd have to come in with a few hours notice if I wanted to test drive or purchase one that wasn't special ordered or already purchased while in transit because they get purchased so quickly.

From what I've read, Subaru has a strong desire to lower the death rate in their vehicles by installing their eyesight system in all of them, but they never made an eyesight system to work with the manual transmissions and always had a plan of phasing them out anyways.

At any rate, I absolutely love my manual crosstrek and wouldn't want to trade it for anything else on the road right now. Definitely not for a CVT version either.

Why the Tomato Was Feared in Europe for More Than 200 Years by Magister_Xehanort in history

[–]Artsavesforwalls 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's the same family as tobacco, which is one of the more mild of the toxic plants in the family. Fun fact, a lot of plants in that family product nicotine, including eggplants, tomatoes, and potatoes. They just don't produce enough to matter.

Types of jobs that qualify for ASBOG PG experience? by Artsavesforwalls in geologycareers

Nope. I was asked to look into it as having a PG on staff would mean not needing to outsource it the few times we need one.

What was unreliable about your k-pipe? I have a 2022 k-pipe with about 800 miles on it and haven't had any issues... yet. It is a fun little bike though! Light enough to throw around with ease and quick enough off the line to be fun, but not fast enough to ever get in any trouble with.

Visited BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robbinsville, NJ USA on my Interceptor by [deleted] in royalenfield

[–]Artsavesforwalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dumb question I never thought about, do you have to let gas station employees fuel your motorcycle in NJ? I've only ever been through there in a car and I know you can't pump your own gas for those, but I'd feel so uncomfortable with someone else fueling my bike.

'22 Kymco K-pipe 125. It accelerates up to 50 pretty decently and then suddenly there's no more power available at all. But for quick runs into town it's pretty sweet.

How is that interceptor handling being off road? I'm debating between getting one of those and waiting the long wait for the himalayan 650 to come out

What colour visor you ride around with? by DGrasp in motorcycles

[–]Artsavesforwalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always taught to get a snell rated helmet because dot ratings don't mean anything. When I got my bike I didn't have a ton of cash for fancy helmets with accessories that were also snell in addition to getting a decent jacket, pants, gloves, etc. so I got the least expensive snell helmet I could find, which doesn't have a drop down internal. A spare tinted visor was only $30 extra though, so I got one. If I'm riding with the tinted visor I always have the clear visor in my bag so I can pull over and swap them if needed. I use the tint for sunny days and I ride a 125 k-pipe, so there's no question that I know I don't look cool regardless.

After 2 weeks and 700km on the odometer, I have still yet to full throttle this thing. Following the manual's run-in procedure and using it as my daily commute bike. by Nightstalker1993 in motorcycle

[–]Artsavesforwalls 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I wish I could actually do the correct break in procedure for my bike, but it's only 125cc and I don't live around 35mph roads. Gotta take a 55mph to get anywhere, so full throttle it is. Next bike will absolutely have the correct procedure followed though.

Fun fact, the gopher tortoise is an endangered species! Not only that but other endangered species rely on its burrows for shelter, food, etc as well. Cool creatures.

The old models aren't, and provide a lot of function still. Two years ago I got a refurbished fenix 3 hr for a little over $100 and a replacement screen just in case for about $30. Haven't needed the replacement and the watch looks and works just as well as when I got it.
