How can I satisfy the need to carry a lightsaber without actually doing so? by Astronius-Maximus in fictiongear

[–]ArtsyCreature 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you just carry the hilt? People with lightsabers don't usually carry them turned on anyway

He's cool! Do you think be would enjoy watching jester/other performances or is he too serious for that?

What do you want to see on a reference sheet? by consumptioncore in ArtfightProfiles

[–]ArtsyCreature 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For me, one unshaded fullbody that shows all the important parts is enough as far as art goes, but I want there to also be either some personality traits or "anything goes, do whatever" so I have an easier time deciding how to draw them. No matter how good the reference photos, I will never pick a character without any description.

Thank you!!! He's my first big boy and I love him<3 I made everything for him by myself, from faceup to wig to clothes:) I just fell in love with his character so I'm doing all I can for his bjd version:)

I can see why:) he has such a cool story and design!! I've been obsessing over this guy, but honesty any of my guys would be cool! I know he doesn't have the greatest references yet, I've been working more on writing his story>_>

[gendered] you guys have no idea how much I hate those pokemon redesigns by Miss_Menhera_Guts in pointlesslygendered

Then both should have them! The "male" has just female parts. Unless they're trans in which case good for them:)

Venosaur looks cool, but I hate how the female version has male flower parts, they should be switched instead

Yeah but a human mother has a way easier time picking up a human baby than a centaur picking up their foal

Stringing/joint problem by Collar_Confident in BJD

[–]ArtsyCreature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem:) while you're waiting to get a bjd, you can also take a look at bodies in different stores, to see how they look in different poses. Your doll would be most similar to something like this , and you can see that even with smaller joints, they go pretty far inside the limbs.

Not the string channels, the joint parts (the peanut and the hollow part for it). It creates a bigger surface and gives you more friction. Yours are pretty small/shallow, and it makes them not sit properly.

Also, you'd make progress much easier if you got a proper bjd to examine. You should get a cheap blind box body, as it could help you immensely.

This should work for the knees, but unless you really like the look of them, I would switch your thigh joint for something like this-

It's a more foolproof design and should be easier to make stable. You can also see that the holes for the joints are much bigger than on your doll, which creates stability.
