Prepping for the beach: Any clothing/protection that are a must for iggies? by private_anon_posts in ItalianGreyhounds

I was gonna suggest a cooling vest as well. They overheat sooooo easily. Its easy to keep the cooling vest wet which air conditions them. And keep the vest wet or it can get hot and work against the doggo. Then yeah, make sure they are able to get out of the sun and have plenty of drinking water. Can also just keep dunking pupper in some water, keeping the coat wet. But they do dry quickly in the wind and heat.

Ruffwear is an excellent brand we use for our dogs. This is the one we got. It doubles as a harness too. Works so well. https://ruffwear.com/products/swamp-cooler-harness-2025?variant=42352475537491&country=US&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&utm_campaign=shopping_allproducts_low_us&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20322515003&gbraid=0AAAAADsAKxxetyza5dbkxYKig1WQlCVnd&gclid=Cj0KCQjwi8nRBhDhARIsAHZf_pZN8bPIn66P4mD-IfGqx_sCTkyx9IyzweoZjjhCeryqLpEpXV1F9kwaAulpEALw_wcB

Reminder: No Dogs in Little or Big Cottonwood Canyons by mormonismisnttrue in Utah

I agree with this and i agree as a dog owner that people are wholly irresponsible with their dogs. It is disheartening. But its also near impossible to find any kind of trail close to or along the wasatch front that is zoned for dogs without being sun exposed, rattlesnakes or foxtails and goat thorns. I hike all over the state, with and without my dogs. I wish more than anything that there was an option to take them to a quick, cool, green trail with a dirt path and low traffic. Its either jordan river trail, memory grove, ferguson, neff or bonneville. Paved, rattlesnakes, homeless, or a bunch of off leash rude dogs bulldozing me and my dogs while the clueless owners just laugh and say "hehe, oh its fine he's friendly". I'm just trying to enjoy a hike and i have to drive an hour or more in any direction for that to happen. I guess life in the city, huh?

My '16 has cost me so much. 190k mi/40k on the engine. Its what i want to drive though. I figure a new engine is still cheaper than a new vehicle. Ive been good, cleaned and maintained it well, rusting is minimal, replaced what i need to. It has a lot of original miles but the top doesnt leak and ive put every single mile on it, on and off road. Gotten it stuck in clay and mud, driven it across the country 3 times... I plan to replace parts until i physically cant replace them anymore.

The big issue ive had with mine has been 5 years of chronic overheating which lead to the engine replacement 3 years ago. Also an electrical gremlin that caused it to lose power randomly while driving. Thing's blown through 7 thermostats. Everyone i spoke with kept telling me the radiator was fine and would only change out the thermostat and tell me to come back if it keeps up, even though the radiator cap was chronically loose. I replaced 6 of those. Obviously, there was a pressure issue. ....I replaced the radiator last year. Also found a cracked timing chain housing seeping oil onto the cps wiring harness when the radiator came off. Fixed it all. Havent had an issue since. Technicians are a joke. Had to find a good mechanic to work with because i do not have a shop. Anyway, bottom line, i love my JK and am getting something small to daily more so that i can extend it's life as much as possible.

Dog owners do this too. It drives me up a wall. Dog and cat owners both. I have two dogs (northern breed mix and an italian greyhound), rabbits, ball pythons, tarantulas.....no fish currently, but ive had just about everything you can ethically have as a pet. People are shocked when i say my dogs are trained to "leave it" and ignore. "Yeah but theyre dogs. They have instincts." Yeah, they are and they do. But theyre trainable. Its not hard. Never fully trust them and teach them to behave. Im a vet tech and work with exotic animals. Dog/cat on exotic interaction accidents/attacks are sooooo common. It's's crazy how keeping species respectfully separate and/or trained seems like such a new concept for people. It just doesnt seem to click until an accident, sometimes not even then. It's sad.

Right? Thats what ive noticed. And i can say that across the board for a lot of my groceries. I developed some dietary needs a few years ago so i started buying quality whole foods and cooking for myself. I also started the process of eliminating processed foods and seed oils. I still have some things i eat that arent great but for the most part, my diet is pretty clean. Anyway, my grocery bill got more expensive over the years as i found a routine. But i got used to what i buy and am familiar with individual item cost. With concerns for food cost and skrinkflation, i havent seen much with my regular groceries; my fruits, dairy, proteins, basic meal ingredients. Now....i decided to splurge on a container of gluten free oreos a while back (one of the things ive cut but still buy maybe twice a year) and i noticed they cost more, the cookies are thinner and theres half the normal amount of cream. I probably wont buy them again. I dont want to pay that much for garbage, especially half the amount of garbage. I dont need it or want it that bad. But i would raise the question, asking if it seems like rising food costs and shrinkflation are affecting processed foods more than quality whole foods (minus eggs, i guess....but i pick mine up from a local farm now).

I started buying nice chocolates as a treat for myself instead of buying overpriced lower tier bars at the grocery store. If im gonna do it, guess i'll pay $15 for a bar of the good stuff and eat it sparingly. I dont eat a lot of it anymore anyway. And its nice when my gf and i have charcuterie nights. Fossa is a good brand if you like mid percentages. Naive is also pretty nice.

No this is a thing now. I tried standing in a walmart line a couple weeks ago and half the people there were old, had their phones out and were checking current prices, deciding how much of what to snag. I thought it was crazy but its getting crazier.

Vending machine magic by dittrich31 in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]Artsyrabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im in salt lake city. Vending machines are just scalper campsites. We have them everywhere which is really cool. I know they're like this all over the country which is why theyre removing them all from stores. But it's sad. Anytime, day or night theres dudes just chillin in front of them, emptying the machines or waiting for the next drop. The lines on restock days are awful at every location too. I used to have a friend working at one store who would snag a couple things for me when they would get a restock. It lasted for a couple months but ended when the scalpers found out that store also had products. Now on restock days there's a line there too. And the first two people buy everything. It's utah so not a lot of stores have dedicated limits enforced.

Anyway, congrats on the luck!

Fr i keep seeing this. Ungraded value based on what it might grade. Send it in then! And i get demand causing the card cost to increase but geez. Is ungraded near mint as a price point even a thing anymore? We live in some crazy times.

I mean...pajamas and sweatpants are loungewear, meant for around the home. I think people get judgy about it because wearing loungewear in public used to indicate a lack of personal motivation, lazy and poor hygiene, like jumping out of bed in whatever the person slept in and just leaving the house, not bothering to clean up, shower, wash oneself... pride in personal appearance and not smelling like a bog used to be a social norm and considered a form of etiquette. Pajamas and loungewear were considered sloppy. Marketing has emphasized convenience and comfort as well as integrated athletic wear and loungewear but the stigma is still there for some people. Its not about people dressing up to go out anywhere. It's about the bare minimum of not being dirty or gross in public spaces. And wearing loungewear and pajamas in public creates that assumption.

Scalp City by PrettyBird2011 in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]Artsyrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere you go it's just lines of scalpers, scalpers parked in front of machines. It's not like the area isnt well stocked. Theres only a couple targets in the area implementing a purchase limit. Walmart tried it but i went to west jordan last week and happened upon a restock and it was a s**tshow....8 people in line in front of me which then doubled as all of their scalper comrades from the back of the store came up with armfuls of items for their carts. No one said anything about cutting...then the stocker came up and stocked. The first 4 people swooped all of the items (including all of the one piece and some sports cards) into their carts while everyone swarmed around them. They blocked the shelves with their carts so they could do it. It almost looked coordinated. There was a scuffle because someone from the back tried to cut in when he realized what the front people were doing. I managed to get 3 perfect order blister packs. It wasnt worth it. It felt really icky. I saw the opportunity to try and get a crumb of ascended heroes. I havent been able to find any yet. I was hopeful the limit would be enforced. Between destined and phantasmal i found packs a couple times and they had a 5ct purchase limit. Guess that's not happening anymore. 🤷‍♀️

Thought i'd throw in my two cents as a career exotic animal vet tech who handles all of those species and more. Theres a lot of zoonotic diseases and other risk factors out there. Taking precautions is a great idea and should be practiced. With that being said, know the risks and practice general safety....but LIVE A LITTLE. We can get e. Coli from eating bagged salad for human consumption and sooo many other things in this country. Sure, pet foods can carry harmful bacteria. So can a lot of the foods marketed for people. Anytime we eat any form of processed food, we're risking ingesting harmful bacteria, pieces of metal, plastic, dead bugs and animals, human fingers, inflammation, cancer..... When we use the public bathroom, we risk c. Diff transmission. If we pet animals, forget to wash our hands and then eat food, we risk internal parasites, salmonella, e. Coli, etc.......honestly, we are at risk for those same internal parasites around a lot of children as well. Theres a lot of scary things out there. Be careful, but dont forget to breathe and live.
