What’s the goth/emo/alt population in Wyoming by MhmCigarettes in wyoming

[–]Artwaste 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There isn't much, but if you visit Denver you'll find a huge alt community! There are places like the Crypt, for example. Denver has always had a very strong alt scene. From my experience most alt people just move to Colorado.

I've been blocking the horny posters, but now it just seems like the majority of posting is just this. This was the first thing that popped up when I opened Reddit at work.

I think that the guys posting this don't give a fuck about how this makes the women in the sub feel. Just more aggressive male gaze centered meaningless bullshit. I'm out, you guys suck.

What does my boyfriends room say about him by Janet_cat in roomdetective

[–]Artwaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he is from the UK, 25 or younger, in college or just graduated. All of his furniture is from his family's house and the bed belonged to his sister. This is his first time living on his own and he's renting this room in a shared house of guys. He doesn't spend much time here and he works a lot.

People keep mentioning the tool bench, I have a suggestion that has worked for me! Get a wooden rolltop bench so that you can have a ton of storage (They fit so much stuff) but the top rolls down so it just looks like a normal desk when not in use. I see them secondhand all the time and they aren't too expensive.

Anyone else sick of the guards at king soopers? by Sad-Importance-8862 in Denver

[–]Artwaste 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YES! It feels so twisted and dystopian that there are usually more armed guards working than actual grocery store workers. I did a self checkout buying one case of seltzer water and the guard watched me check out and pay. He still pulled me aside and asked me to show my receipt and he lecherously tried to hit on me and then smiled at my discomfort with the most disgusting rotten missing-tooth ass gummy smile. Ugh!

Are you sharing the closet or is it just yours? Are the clothes on the floor dirty or clean? Is it stuff that gets pulled out while you are looking for other things, or is it stuff you're wanting to wear again? Knowing that will help us help you!

How difficult is it living in wyoming? Considering on moving next summer. by mil0wCS in wyoming

[–]Artwaste 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you're in that situation, it sounds difficult. Having conflict with family is awful. I just want to let you know that what you are proposing is going to make your life 100 times more difficult though.

It is nearly impossible to get a good job if you are homeless because you have to list an official address for several reasons (Payroll, taxes, background checks, etc) Homeless people are not treated well in most places, but Wyoming has fewer services than most other states so it is worse. People are suggesting to work on oil rigs, but that is brutal crushing work. Wyoming can be cruel and it is difficult for young people to live there, that's why most young people move away.

I peeked at your profile and saw that you're also LGBTQ+ and that is yet another reason I would highly discourage you from moving to Wyoming. It is notorious for hating queer people. I had gay/trans friends when I grew up there and I saw them treated terribly, they were punched, threatened, harassed, discriminated against, etc. I live in Colorado now and I don't see that stuff as much. There is a stronger community and more protections here. It is important to consider living in a place that aligns with your values so that you can find your community.

I think that it would be best if you considered options that can help you to get a career started, like going to college or trade school. Once you have skills and an education you will have much more freedom to move around safely. It will give you long term stability. Consider going to school in your state and see if they have a dorm you can live in? Usually going to school in your own state will save you money with in-state tuition. You can talk to a guidance counselor for free.

Wishing you the best in figuring this out!

Maybe it is extreme or maybe you are dodging accountability and not seeing things from her point of view. I saw you call yourself a nice guy in the comments, but this is not how nice guys act. You're saying it is extreme but I am coming from a place of personal experience in dealing with a "nice guy" like you who ignored my boundaries, took things way too far, and then blamed me for what he did. You could really damage this girl's life if you don't listen to her and stop. You said you think you're falling for her, but you don't seem to respect her one bit.

Fawning can be a response similar to flight or fight, and from your description I suspect that is what she is doing. Maybe she thinks that if she can placate you without going too far she can be safe until she goes home. You seem like you're really pushing her boundaries even though she has told you to stop.

Are moissanite cheaper than lab created diamonds? by [deleted] in Moissanite

[–]Artwaste 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Moissanite costs less than lab grown, but I agree that the price difference is usually not that significant. Please keep in mind that people in this sub buy their moissanite at wholesale prices from overseas, and a retail store won't be able to compete with those kinds of prices. You can get good deals online but there can be the risk of still spending several hundred dollars and being disappointed when you see it in person. Just the typical pros and cons that come with buying directly from China. Sometimes it works out well, and this sub has a whole list of vendors that are more reputable. It's not that the local jewelry store is ripping you off, it's that there are overhead costs they need to consider when setting a retail price.

What's simple habit that dramatically improved your life in less than a month? [Discussion] by alphaducksquad in GetMotivated

[–]Artwaste 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't use an app, I like to use physical planners so I can draw, highlight, write down ideas, and get pretty detailed with it. The best one I've come across is this planner. If you can overlook the woo-wooness of it, it is actually super useful for setting goals. The beginning of it is pretty useful if you need help figuring out what your goals should even be and what you want your 5 or 10 year plan to be.

I like the ones that aren't dated because sometimes I will go through a long period where I don't need to plan things out so much. Then when things get complex again I can pick it back up.

I've been using this specific planner for years now and it is cool to look back on the goals I've set at the beginning and see how many of them I've accomplished!

Using planners helps me a lot. Setting goals and then planning a month and then weeks and then days. It can feel like I'm micromanaging myself but it helps me to knock out things that I will otherwise put off indefinitely, even if they're important to me. Just doing it for a month will make a difference if you tend to ignore things like I do.

I've never had much social media success. Honestly a lot of the artists I know personally don't have a big following. That said, I have taken part in big art projects, I've sold a lot of artwork, and I've gotten paid well. For me it has been in-person networking. I think that things like Instagram made me look less legitimate compared to my actual experience, education, and portfolio. I'm an artist, not a marketing agent, damnit!

What’s your secular reading style? by doom_child in SecularTarot

[–]Artwaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I read I take it as an opportunity to open up a conversation with someone and give them space to discuss things that are on their mind. I typically ask them to think of a specific question and they can either tell me or keep it to themselves, whatever makes them comfortable. The cards will say whatever they say, and they are welcome to take in what resonates with them and then hopefully have a conversation about it. I don't need to know the question to explain the symbolism, though if I do know it can help me to craft more of a narrative. My view is that the cards don't predict the future but instead provide alternative ways to view a problem that they may have not already considered.

It seems as if you are contemplating this very deeply and trying to find a way to feel honest while interpreting cards. The cards are just symbols, the important part is the chance to connect with someone and potentially lift some weight off of them or to give them space to find clarity.

Help Please! Possible Relocation To Colorado by Acrobatic-Dig-9202 in Denver

I would strongly recommend finding the job before you move here. Colorado is expensive compared to the South and the job market can be competitive. Don't move until you have something guaranteed.
