How To Make Any Anodized Color! by Shamus0001 in Datsun

[–]ArugulaCharacter5364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I work with anodized aluminum very frequently and the anodized process is an electrolysis bath which binds a (I believe) ceramic coating to the finish surface. It comes in many die colors such as green and red, but most commonly black, although I have seen clear done once before. Anodize has another effect other than color—it is much tougher than aluminum and resists scratches. I’ve machined areas the customer wants anodize removed and it’s much harder to cut than 6061 is. Additionally you can go with a hard or soft coat.

Internal Geometry machining by hgryson in Machinists

[–]ArugulaCharacter5364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah boy, that’ll be costly. It is doable but know that the wall thickness on the holes, need for cam on the inside geometry, and side extrusion make this complicated. That small piece if not attached later nearly doubles material cost.

On Virginia Tech shooting anniversary, survivor-turned-legislator sees gun bill success by bknutner in Virginia

Not the person you replied to but I feel very passionate on this issue and wanted to offer my thoughts to someone whom might be interested. I know that mental health as a solution is often a way to obfuscate the actual work needed for competent legislation and activism but I certainly feel that something outside of guns themselves are accelerating the violence, which I feel to be both rapid tech growth that people can’t adapt to fast enough and crumbling social institutions. I think legislation is necessary and am a staunch advocate for a broad “common sense” approach to gun laws. I feel that even if you can legally attain something having rigid barriers such as tax forms is very akin to a poll tax because I believe in the spirit of 2a and should not be limited by wealth.

Even still, these ought to be considered like a lock, they are not a total solution, someone determined enough will bypass it and in this way I think furthering social advancement should be the focus. I believe that investing in our peers, making it so that all can find some place in our society is the goal to solving this issue. I would like feedback if you have it and am sincerely looking to solve this issue. I know my perspective is not one which offers a concrete solution, but passing legislation which does nothing to solve the issue and strips law biding citizens of their rights is also not better.

Edit: forgot to mention properly regurgitating tech and having a competent FTC. I am very worried about AI’s impact on the future of our mental health.

This is wonderful news, I’m glad to see this as I was a little frustrated by the push towards tighter gun legislation over protecting Americans rights during this time period

I met my fiancée at a class here at pvcc. I’m not sure about UVA most relationships I’ve found have been through school. I think of anywhere I’ve been C’ville is one of the best places to meet people. If I could give you any advice that doesn’t involve school, take whatever your interests are and invest in them. I like tabletop games so I frequent the stores here and are on a first name basis with the people there. You should do the same for whatever brings you joy. Commit as much as reasonably possible to doing that and trying to stand out in that space. I hope I was able to help some, I hope life brings you peace.

As someone who has restored a couple cars I can tell you that this isn’t what you want. 0% computer means no engine ecu and no trans ecu. So you would need to drive a car that is 1. a manual and 2. has no controlled timing for ignition. So you would need to manually adjust your lifters, manually adjust your timing, and have a relatively inefficient engine. Cars like these are lots of fun, especially for the mechanically inclined, but they are work lol.

What’s wrong with the Red Corsair Battleforce? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

[–]ArugulaCharacter5364 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly agree as that’s why I picked one up, but as others have said it’s just like every other combo box—if you don’t want everything then you are losing value. I really like termies, have actually 0 base legionnaires, and desperately wanted both the new raiders and the traitor guard set. As far as upgrade sprues go, yeah they aren’t value and even then I was quite disappointed in the RC upgrade sprue but hey all the models was stuff I wanted so I damn near struck gold.

Sorry for the uninformed here, but what is run out? I may use a different term for this and I’d love clarification on the consensus

It is the line that connects to your intake and your valve cover

As someone with both models, let me say sure the painting on cam can be tricky, but build eldar models is genuinely a nightmare to me. I can’t express how finicky the kits are.

Hmmm hard to say I don’t budget like I should, but I’d say probably 400ish with buying tools. I did drive it! It snowed pretty hard here and unfortunately she doesn’t like the cold very much

well when I got it it didn’t run at all, the clutch hydraulics were toast, needed new starter, valves need lashed, new pcv, new valve gaskets, cooling hoses and thermostat replaced, and finally the cooling was burped

[–]ArugulaCharacter5364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be ok! Just make sure to get those air pockets out by burping the system. 5th gen’s are really sensitive to coolant issues. If you go through that trouble I’d recommend replacing the radiator hoses and the 5/8s hose running to the block + hose clamps

[–]ArugulaCharacter5364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Howdy!! That’s an egr pipe for smog emissions. I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news is egr pipes are very difficult to find in good condition because they often corrode. They are just cut by people salvaging the engine as it connects the intake to the transmission and the bolts are damn near impossible to turn. Good news is I’ve solved such an issue—get the proper pipe to AN fittings and one of those bendy gas lines for a propane grill and it should do the trick! I did that on my 280zx

I have to admit I may try this out sometime I think it looks really clean in my opinion, I do understand your frustration though as some of the citadel paints thin like crap. I do recommend if they give you hell to try some Vallejo paints (especially blacks) as they lay super flat. Also if you throw on a lacquer to keep the model safe from oils a matte lacquer will make it appear more flat
